    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

Plenty of lube on that hone Benneh and don't go mad with it. Just enough to get rid of any glaze on the bores. I once did a Honda Sooperdreem with not enough lube and ended up from well within tolerance to just short of re-bore territory. Oops! Did my FJ1200 a few years back properly and after...

    V8 or TD5

Biglad, I am doing a "De-restriction bloggy fing" on this forum on an irregular basis, so I will put my thoughts on the intercooler on there. It is next on the list and the last thing before I re-map. All I can say is that Paddock market it as a performance item and that there is so little...

    V8 or TD5

With respect Biglad and as I mentioned, there are plenty of instances on this very site of warped manifolds and snapped studs, both in the D2 and TD5 sections. So more than heresay I would say. Maybe this issue could also be down to driving style, with those who tend to "make better progress"...

Not sure how much you would pay for those either, or if Halfords do them. You could try Frost in Rochdale and order on-line from them. Frost specialize in auto restoration products and have a very large range although bigger items can be rather pricey, but I don't think you'll be rolling sheet...

    V8 or TD5

As Lister said, the V8 is great, but if you want a big range between fill ups on LPG you may well end up compromising your boot space. I would add a couple of other things to Biglads list before you do the re-map, which would be a bigger intercooler and consideration of removing the centre box...

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

I always clean my valves by putting them in the pillar drill and using some emery cloth to get the cack off them. You could also use a pistol drill held in a vice. Or a lathe if you fancy becoming my besh fren at the very mention of owning one. Don't tighten the chuck so much as to...

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

Hi Benneh. As I mentioned the other day, the inlet valves will be OK with a quick grind in with fine paste. The exhausts look like they will need grinding in with some coarse before proceeding to the fine. Replace any exhausts that are really bad, but they should all be about the same unless...

    Maaarrghk!'s TD5 De-restriction bloggy fing

Wouldn't mind seeing a few piccies of that catch tank when it's done Dave. Bennehboy is doing a much needed engine re-build, so as he says, the jury is still out on the pro-vent. Not added much here for a while as other aspects of the car need sorting out -...

Discovery 2 Diff Lock Age Poll

James and 50p, thanks for the information. There is a sticker on the console that suggests a diff lock, but the lever sits to the right and back (high ratio engaged) and simply has L-N-R embossed on the knob. I am off work next week and will be doing work on the car, so will check for any...

Discovery 2 Diff Lock Age Poll

Mine is a 54 plate. One of the last to be made, so should have it, but I'm buggered if I can get it to engage. My theory is that the last few were "Frankenstien" cars that came off the line with whatever was left lying around. Hence I have a box sans CDL. I'm a bit miffed about that. Also it...

    Car "Sits Down" occasionally

Paddock will do a set of fun bags for £130 including post. Top quality brand too. Use search thingy at top of page to look for Bettenbergs thread entitled "Disco II air suspension - the definitive guide" and have a right good read through it. He give a couple of different ways to do this job...

    Air springs off?

Just be careful inflating the new bags. Slightest sign of them not going up straight, stop. De-flate bag, adjust and start again. Drivers side is easy to keep an eye on as you stand with hand on ignition key, so is easy to catch if it starts going wrong. Other side, either get an assistant...

    Air springs off?

Use the custom search do-dab at the top of the page and look for Battenbergs Disco II air suspension definitive guide. Well worth a quick read before you start.

It's always good practice to grind the valves in. You should get away with just using the fine grade paste on the inlets. It's usually the exhausts that are worse. Can't get your pm here at work so will try to access it at home tonight. And stop posting revenge porn pictures of that...

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

And I'm going to join in with the kicking too - seeing as you're already down. You've taken it this far, so you may as well do the chain. I can help with a valve compressor and might be able to drop it over at the weekend. It's just a standard vanilla flavoured one, but worth giving it a go...

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

How are your engine mounts Benneh? Now you've gone so far it might be a wise time to replace. Times like this when I wish I had a second vehicle, so I could do that amount of work to my own Disco. Or even just a medium sized job without worrying if I'll get it all back together before monday...

    BennehBoy's D2 adventure

Good grief, you have been a Busy Bennehboy! Please correct me if I am wrong on this, but weren't all the revised parts on the 15P "backwards compatible" with the 10P? Here's hoping that head is nice and flat.
