Huge vibration and wobble at 60

Tyres sounds a good place to start. Also, has a balance weight popped off one of the wheels? Check the simple things first.

    EGR blanking and sluggish response

It's a new one on me, but there are plenty on here who might be able to give a more informed response. I think they will first ask for a little claifications as to what exactly it was that you fitted. Was it a blanking plate only, or was it a full egr delete kit (the better option to go for)?

Air Bag un-rolled - any advice?

Thanks Racandy, I'd already done that and got the air bag off. My question was about how to get the air bag to roll back over its piston, as it was proving impossibly difficult to do by hand. I have since answered my own question, and it wasn't a pretty or elegant answer, but it has worked. I...

Air Bag un-rolled - any advice?

A bit of a disaster just when things were going so well. Today was supposed to be air bag replacement day. Started on the right of the car and all went swimmingly. Repeat for left side of car and all went well until it was time to put a little air in the bag. Started engine, got back round...

Buying stuff and never fitting it!

On the other hand......... New rear funbags arrived today and I shall fit them tomorrow. Honest.

How bland. Must admit to prefering car aware pedestrians.

2001 Disco EGR Blanking Plate Confusion

Forgot to add that this might be a good time to renew the hoses with silicone ones as the originals tend to de-laminate on the inside which strangles the engine. I got a set c/w really nice wide stainless clips for £72 from Derby Performance Hose.

2001 Disco EGR Blanking Plate Confusion

I agree with Brian. Get an egr delete kit at £28 from Paddocks and do the job properly. Keeping the egr in place means that air still has to get round that restrictive butterfly and spindle thats in the valve.

    rear airbags spacer kit

I'd go for that too, as well as a look at Bettenbergs thread on SLS - very useful.

Buying stuff and never fitting it!

So it's just the 3 of us then! Intercooler still in shed and will remain there until after new rear air bags are fitted. EGR finally fitted after 2 months in shed and well worth it. De-cat pipe took and age and also well worth it.

    Intercooler question

Its the cheapest one I could find! About £360 from Paddocks including vat and postsage. Serck are a quality make and this one is supposed to fit standard hoses and mounts. Speaking of which, original hoses tend to de-laminate on the inside which strangles the air flow into the engine. I got a...

    Air suspension problem.

Small world! Mine too. A couple of times in the past week. Been studying Battenburgs most excellent post on SLS. Very recomended. Will be getting new funbags from Paddocks. If problems continue I will look at the sensors (I will check them anyway) but Paddocks seem a bit expensive at £36 each...

    Intercooler question

Mine says exactly the same and I'm pretty sure it's a standard one, but will be happy to be corrected. I am the second owner, the first being a Scottish Farmer who ran it as a company vehicle - I really can't see him wanting to modify. A Serck is waiting in the shed..........:D

    Turbo whistle after de-cat

There are still MOT stations run by "people like us" who will turn a blind eye to a missing cat if emission requirements are met. Ditto for these new rules about particle filters. The other alternative I am thinking of is a "false cat". I am lucky enough to work where tig welding takes place on...

    Turbo whistle after de-cat

Thank you chaps for setting my mind at ease. I will just whip the pipe off and have a feel at the turbo for play just to be double sure. I am keeping the cat just in case I can't find an MOT man who is "one of us" and had it propped upright in the shed overnight. Picked it up this morning and...

    Turbo whistle after de-cat

Just finished fitting the de-cat pipe to my TD5. EGR already blanked. Car still on ramps as I ran out of daylight before I could put the cross members back on, but I decided to just crack the old girl up before going in for tea. The immediate thing I noticed was the turbo whistle - never had...

    Allisport any good?

My Serck arrived from Paddock yesterday. Under £360 including vat and post. A lot cheaper than buying direct from Serck.

How to install 2003 Disco headlight assembly in 2002 Disco

What you also need to know is how often and easily they are stolen, as well as how expensive they are to replace. Unless you want to spend a few days making security brackets and alarming them the best advice many here will give is not to bother.

    Anyone got a Hot Spanner?

They are definitely captive and upon inspection are as an earlier poster said M8 rather than the M6 than one would normally expect from a 10mm head size. There is a folded plate welded to each chassis leg and the captive nuts can be seen through the gaps at the corners of the plate, as can the...

    Anyone got a Hot Spanner?

Ha! Got one! Tucked away in a dusty corner at work. Boss sez I can play with it on friday afternoon if I promise not to burn his works down. Have found an old 3/8" socket, so will whack that on, apply some heat and try to loosen off with the 3/8" snap-on hex socket. If they round off again I...
