    Trim removal tool...

I hate removing the trim from my D2 - I _always_ break at least one of the plastic thingys. I can't help but think that the nylon/plastic ones on amazon won't be strong enough and the metal ones too fierce! Can anyone recommend a set of trim tools to remove D2 trim - one that won't cost...

    Rear wiper - fix/workaround...

Ah! Does that manifest itself as seizing at 10 O'Clock too? With mine there was a definite twisting of the mount - but perhaps that is just normal. Next time it starts to seize I'll do this - but for now I'm in no rush to remove the darned thing again - its a pain - and I _always_ break...

What have you done to your Landie today.

I hacked the end off an old track rod to create a slide on extender for the standard wheel brace - those nuts came undone nice'n'easy

Are there better locking wheel nuts?

I wish I had an impact driver - a nice compressor one - I have to break all my locking nuts with my own brute force :) I hear you - and you're probably right the local tyre people have probably knacked my key - they love their impact driver - and it really makes me smile when the use a...

    Rear wiper - fix/workaround...

I took my rear wiper mechanism out today - it was only getting to about 10 O'Clock (from a starting point of 9 O'Clock - you know what I mean). Getting the thing out was a pain - in the end I had to put the nut back on where the wiper goes and persuade it with a hammer  I took the...

Are there better locking wheel nuts?

They do look a lot better and they have square looking edges to grip against - I can't help but think that the rounded ones were also part of the design flaw in the originals. Do they still suffer with the extra sticky-out-ness leading to the whole lot twisting as you turn?

Are there better locking wheel nuts?

I just went to change a wheel and with one not overly leveraged turn split my 'B' locking wheel nut key. I hate these keys. They seem fundamentally poorly designed with the 'nut bit' sticking further out - just asking to twist at an angle. I have had people try to nick my wheels so I...

What millage are everyones td5's on? problems?

Mines on 190k, she leaks. She leaks through the sunroof She leaks oil out of the transfer box She leaks oil into the injector harness She leaks coolant (somewhere - Probably the head gasket!) She leaked PAS fluid all over the drive She currently leaks ACE fluid In her spare time I think that...

    fuel gauge dropped

Now that does sound like an easy solution. And if you have a loadbay mat, you'll never know it was there

fuel gauge problems - dash related...

I finally got around to fixing this. It turned out to be the broken solder joint. I wrote it all up here: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/fuel-gauge-dropped-179344.html

    fuel gauge dropped

Apologies for opening an old thread - but it seemed a good idea to have all the info in one place.... I had this problem at the start of the winter and lived with it until recently. I finally summoned up the courage (I'm just a DIYer). I did not take notes or pictures - it was quite daunting...

How many iron filings on a drain plug should I put up with?

Fantastic - Off I go to raid the cupboard under the kitchen sink :)

How many iron filings on a drain plug should I put up with?

Thanks - this all sounds quite positive - I was hoping for that :) Any suggestions as to how I degrease it? I was thinking of taking my ramps to a local jetwash..... Perhaps there is something I should spray on before I go there?

How many iron filings on a drain plug should I put up with?

Last Sunday, after some screeching on the motorway, the car lost drive - it worked for a while but finally gave up the ghost and refused to do anything in any gear. So it was time to call the RAC. The RAC man could find no solution so called out a relay truck. The relay man got it to engage...

Off road in someone else's D2...

I want to do something more challenging than a LR day and do it with no risk to my daily driven D2 and I don't want to buy another D2 to do this one off :) (though I'm still in the market for a nice low mileage blue ES)

Off road in someone else's D2...

****take right? No - far from it I've had driving days in series vehicles and defenders - why not a D2? Only thing is, no-one is going to particularly advertise this and searching for it on google yielded nothing :( So I thought it best to ask the community that knows best LR Experience...

Off road in someone else's D2...

Hi! Are there any pay'n'play locations in the UK that will hire out a TD5 D2 and let it be driven around their course/tracks for a day? I ask as I can't afford for my D2 to not be on the road but SWMBO and I fancy having a bash at it. Even better if they offered some initial tuition...

Thanks for that - if it remains annoying I'll sort that out :)

    Rear wiper blades...

I took it back - they agreed that the recommended blade would not fit. In the end they exchanged it for a 'replacement rubber' set. With a bit of bending, the plastic 'guide' that holds the rubber does come out. Simply slide out the old rubber from the guide, slide in the replacement rubber...
