If your Disco is a Japanese reimport there will be no info on the VIN plate other than the serial no. My 1996 Disco 300Tdi was a jap import and the VIN plate was almost blank. Doesn't cause a problem with MOT etc. Stick to the LR handbook as far as weights are concerned. And just be careful if...

I had the same problem. In my Disco 2. 2002. The dealer I bought it from sent me to an auto electrician with LR experience. Traced to a broken wire on the NS passenger front door. Took the guy abut an hour to find and fix. Maybe this will help.
