Help fitting turbo gauge to Defender 300Tdi

Cheers everyone, checked em all with a multimeter, the gauge comes on with ignition and the backlights are working. Only problem now is the ciggy lighter doesnt work with the lights turned on because of a massive voltage drop to 0.3v, but I'm not bothered about that. Chris.

Help fitting turbo gauge to Defender 300Tdi

What I'll do is get the backlights working as they were again. Then I'll sort out a feed for the voltmeter. I think the gauges might have been touching each other which could have shorted something. I was using the red wire from the 12v cigarette lighter as the feed for the voltmeter, and then...

Help fitting turbo gauge to Defender 300Tdi

Hi again, I have also purchased a Voltmeter. I got the backlights hooked up yesterday, worked perfectly. I used one of the connections from the speedo backlight. However, I used the cigarette lighter as the feed for the actual voltmeter gauge reading. But I keep blowing fuses. Also, whenever...

    Rear view mirror removal.

I second that, I smashed my head into it the other day while trying to thread a cable through the bulkhead, knocked the frigger right off. Spent a good 45 minutes trying to get the bitch back on, neighbours must have thought I was a right idiot swearing at a rear view mirror. Got it back...

Help fitting turbo gauge to Defender 300Tdi

One more question if you don't mind. What gauge wire did you use to hook up the backlight? And did you just run it off of another gauge that was already fitted? Thanks, Chris.

Rapid fuel drop after 1/4 tank

Yes, I noticed this as well, I think it must be the way the gauge has been calibrated. Can't just suddenly start using more fuel..... or can it? Hope not, Chris.

Help fitting turbo gauge to Defender 300Tdi

Just to let you know, I got the same gauge you have in the photo. Got it all hooked up and went for a drive, works perfectly, getting just under 1 Bar of pressure, not sure if this is good or bad, seems OK to me. Just need to install it into my Mud Pod dash mount tomorrow. Thanks again for the...

17 year old Insurance! Defender 90

I think you have to be 25 or over with Aviva to drive any other car. By once you are, you are covered Third Party as you say. If that were available to me, I would dump my Landy in a garage somewhere and drive my Mum's Subaru everywhere :D But hell, you can't complain with insurance that...

Sounds alright, what insurer are you with that allows you to drive any other car? Mine does, but I have to be 25. I'm with Aviva.

Really great to hear that! I did mine all over the phone, and nothing popped up saying it was wrong on their end. Everything has been going very smoothly since. What Landy have you got? £948 is pretty good. I did a quote with a 1985 Defender and that was just under £800.

Oh, and obviously click the circle saying it is a van and not a car :D

Well, when you put in your Reg, it will say it is a station wagon or an estate. it isn't, its a light utility van. Tick the circle that says the car information is wrong, and go through all the options. This brought mine down from £8K to £2K. Then I added both of my parents, and that must...

17 year old Insurance! Defender 90

I insured my 1996 Defender 90 Van with Aviva for just under £1500, I'm 17 and have only had my license 1.5 months. Only being 3 seats makes it a lot cheaper aswell.

Help fitting turbo gauge to Defender 300Tdi

Hi there, I think I can see it, looks bloody short, but it does look like the right pipe. I'm in no hurry to do this, but some pictures would be much appreciated if you had the time. Any recommended gauges? Cheers, Chris.

    rumbling grinding noise whilst freewheeling

I also have this problem on my 300Tdi. I have a few other noises coming from underneath, so will be checking the UJ's at the weekend, hopefully will resolve it. If not, could be the wheel bearings.

Help fitting turbo gauge to Defender 300Tdi

Hi all, Bit of a newbie here. I am going to attempt to fit a turbo pressure gauge to my 1996 Defender 300Tdi. I have seen how it is done on the 200Tdi, with a black pipe being clearly visible to instert a T-piece. However, I can't find any tutorials on how to do this on the 300Tdi. I am...
