'lectric fan thermostat switch - Which hose?

Fitted a kenlow kit to my dads, that had a probe that sat in the radiator fins. The instructions say as close to the top hose as possible. I have also fitted a few to classic cars with the sensor that fits in the hose, they were all fitted to the top hose. Hope this helps Mark

    Fluid leak

Well managed to get out and have a poke around today. Found the ACE pipes and they are like new, and more importantly dry. Looking down between the intercooler and radiator i can see what seems to be a dark patch on the bottom drivers side of the radiator. And my coolant was down today...

    Fluid leak

They are both ok i checked them this morning, so is the engine oil but it seems too thin for that. Coolant is ok but that is orangy red.It doesnt smell like diesel, so it is really narrowed down to ace or steering. Do the pipes for both run in this place or just one of the systems? I thnk it has...

1st problem since i got my disco in feb and its a fluid leak. The car is an 03 disco 2 TD5. I noticed a small patch of what looks like oil on the floor yesterday, under the front off side. As it was wet i tried to look under as best as i could and there is a drip hanging off the bracket that...

Td5 Auto Gearbox with a cold... Please help !

I would give the gearbox an oil and filter change first, change oil and filter run it around drain oil and refill again to get the old stuff out of the torque converter. It sounds like the oil is thickening up in the cold, so someone before you got it could have put the wrong transmission fluid...

    thinking of buying 2001 td5??

I have had my TD5 since febuary this year and its brilliant, its only needed a cam seal £10. I had a 4.6 p38 range rover before for 4 years and that constantly emptied my wallet, but not the Disco. Before the p38 i had an x-trail for 18 months and the farther in law has had it for the last 4...

    DISCO 2 or PRADO (ouch)

My dad had a shogun, then a prado (import) and now has a p38 range rover. I have the Discovery TD5. The Prado was far superior to the shogun, and although all of these cars have been diesel the prado was the quickest. It was very reliable, but not as comfortable as the disco or Range rover. If...

    diesel in sump,td5.....

I thought it was the earlier TD5s that had the problems with the heads, and the later ones were improved to try and stop the head from cracking,(although some still do) Mark

    TD5 Purchase Help Needed!

and yes, its wet underneath (oil). The dealer said if you want a Landrover that doesn’t leak oil, buy new! Fair enough I thought but £9K is a lot of money for me, especially if its going to drop oil on my drive. John. My 03 cost the same back in febuary this year and had 98000 on the clock...

Electric fan instead of viscous fan???

The blades on the fan fitted to my dads are only designed to run one way, to get the fan to push air the fan has to be turned around. Its possible with that fan but it can cause some mounting problems with others, and some designs will run either way. Just pointing out to make shure the fan you...

Electric fan instead of viscous fan???

Electric fan instead of viscous fan???

I was talking to an ex landrover engineer some time ago when we were thinking about fitting the electric fan to my dads range rover. According to him the only reason that land rover still fit viscous fans instead of electric, is that when being used offroad mud can build up in an electric fan so...
