clutch failure lt77 in ldv pilot/sherpa

Just took a call from the old man - he's put it all back together, climbed up and bled the clutch with help, and while doing so the fork seems to have come away inside the box so I'll be back down there again tonight taking it all apart again! Obviously the most sensible thing to do is to buy a...

clutch failure lt77 in ldv pilot/sherpa

Just got in from finishing - well getting the box back in, prop, exhaust on etc - just left the old man to fit the slave cylinder and tighten a few bolts tomorrow... The fork was fine, but judging how little the pin protruded from the box, and the fact it wouldn't pull forward out further...

clutch failure lt77 in ldv pilot/sherpa

Ahh bollox - that does it!! Thank you for confirming. He said the pedal went solid last time, and he pushed harder before there was an obvious bang - as the fork broke. On this occasion the pedal went hard, and he says he didn't push or hear or feel a break. Is this failure common and (I...

clutch failure lt77 in ldv pilot/sherpa

Hi all. My old school father in law has a rather sick Pilot which I believe has an lt77 box and I'm going down there later to take the box out and find out whether the fork has snapped again (we replaced it in 08'). Can anyone confirm where the 'pin' from the fork should sit in relation to...

    Wiring LED work light

To clarify, it is just the one lamp, not four..... I don't use the heated screen or wiper (yet/might I guess) so would be very tempted to run it off that - certainly for a time to see if I need/miss the use of them.... Tom

    Towing electric colours.

Old thread I know, but my d90 200 tdi leccy connector needed swapping tonight so I removed the seriously corroded old one but found my wires matched the above but for one all black one where it should have been white (earth)... Anyone else found this? I can't test until the weekend. Cheers...

    Wiring LED work light

Hi chaps, I'm quite hands-on (welding etc) but I hate electrics! In days gone by (before owning a non-modded euro box!) I would just of just wired this 18w light up to a positive feed from the rear lights or (redundant) rear wiper, and earthed locally.... Is this still ok for such a low rated...

Cold diesel engine vs warm - difference in sound

I recorded a cold and warm run for comparison but unfortunately the sound quality wasn't good enough to hear a clear difference, so I deleted them. My new (s/h) CD player turned up for her in the post today so come the next journey I can hopefully have some tunes to distract me! Been too long...

Cold diesel engine vs warm - difference in sound

That mpg is very good. I average 58mpg for a tank but mine is 12yrs old and on 184k and my communte is only 14 miles. Tom

Apparently they're not as reliable or as economic. Quiter though. Tom

    Radius arm bolts?

Good links. So the three markings on the bolts this chap has are akin to the standard 8.8 bolt, which incidentally, is plenty man-enough. My old flatmate from uni helped with speccing some bolts on a fancy flywheel on one of my old cars, and I recall him telling me about a steel rig they...

Cold diesel engine vs warm - difference in sound

My 200 is on 101k. I started it last night and moved it out of the garage to sort the bad connectors out on the main beam stalk (all done ok :) ) and it sounded fine at cold idle. No different to and old-ish diesel from cold. It really is only under load, and it is pronounced knocking. I'll...

Cold diesel engine vs warm - difference in sound

Mine is an ARL pd150 with 184k on the clock, but it quiet compared to my two previous pd dervs that had significantly less miles on their clocks. Tom

Cold diesel engine vs warm - difference in sound

Does the 200 sound 'knocky' or is it just a general higher level of noise? Thanks Tom

Cold diesel engine vs warm - difference in sound

I'm going to record it after reading back your posts - it is more da da da da than rattle as if everything was loose and it sounds fine on tick over. Tom

Cold diesel engine vs warm - difference in sound

That's some bed time reading - thank you. It doesn't quieten down until at proper working temp, and although my vag derv is louder when first started it quietens quickly. Tom
