Best way to find the leak??

Always helps if you can figure out what it is that is leaking - I thought mine was leaking oil and it turned out to be diesel, by the time it had run down the block it was pretty much the same colour and consistency.

    Horsebox

Have a look on Horsequest, way more than Horse and Hound and Ebay in terms of choice. If you haven`t bought a horsebox before its worth doing some homework, I`m on my second and made some painful mistakes with the first.

    Did I just find a pre-series 1 prototype? (Photos inside) Confirm/Deny?

There were 47 or 48 pre-production prototypes ( as Blackadder said in another context, opinion is divided) all 80" galvanised steel chassis. The very first was centre steer, of the others there were both RHD or LHD. 25 were built before the official launch (Amsterdam Motor Show 1948) and the...

    Newbie,, Buying a Defender?????

Agreed, I`ve never seen a 2.5 Nissan conversion into a Defender, though I`m told that its a strong engine. And I`ve been overtaken by a few Cabstars doing 80 or so I`d either go for a more mainstream conversion or stick with standard, and be prepared to look at plenty, there`s some real rubbish...

    Land Rover Experience?

I`ve been on two LRE courses - your voucher is for the familiarisation course (half a day), the ones I went on were Introduction to off-road driving (full day) and Advanced Off road driving (full day). Unless its changed the familiarisation course is based on the morning session of the...

Good place to source a TD4 engine?

Assuming you are not buying a recon unit then if you can look at the replacement in a car before you buy it and hear/see it running so much the better - which suggests a Landy breakers ? Try Rangeland on the A38 near Burton on Trent maybe

    Dog Ramp

Dog ramp every time - I have a Solvit telescopic ramp - bottom part slides into and out of the top and locks. Made of heavy duty hard plastic with a carpet mat on the ramp face. For a Ridgeback you`ll need a fairly heavy duty one - mine takes a (big) Vizsla and two springers and is easy to use...

    x-mod 3 door...hot in summer

I would lag the transmission tunnel and inner bulkhead to keep as much engine heat out of the cab as you can, and if you want to keep the look as original as possible, why not try and source an ex army arctic heater pipe kit ( I would have thought that might be easier to find than cooling in...

HELP! Stranded in Brighton. something's gone wang in the front drivetrain...

Nearest landy specialist I`m aware of is the Thatched Garage in Hoathly - never used them myself but they`ve been around years. Lateral thought - buy some cheap spanners were you are ?

Stick with new Disco - or not??

You should take it back. You are maybe assuming that your question to the garage is " I have a warranty, give me my money back. " It isn`t (yet), it is "I have a warranty, the car has these problems, plese fix them under the warranty" You have apid for that warranty one way or another, may as...

P38 won't start without using jump leads

First I would get your battery tested - "new" batteries can be faulty. I tested mine last after all the usual suspects - duff battery all along, 6 weeks old

Storing tyres - an aged lady's question

I don`t store tyres on rims or off rims flat on top of each other, I store them on end, slightly over-inflated if on the rim, and cover them. I`ve had a couple of bad experiences with the bead coming off the rim on tyres stored with a fair amount of weight bearing down on the side wall. Flat...

    Solar battery charger

I use a trickle charger with a cut off, mains powered, works fine so far - its hooked up for at least six months a year and cycles on and off depending on battery condition. People I know use solar chargers on the smaller (12v electrcis) horseboxes which are parked up outside for long periods...

    Respray question

Agree with MHM, and spraying when you are having a bad day has definite negative consequences - at least panel by panel you can stop and go and do something else before you end up having to rub down acres of paint and start again. Plus you can spray panels much more easily in a warm domestic...

HELP, please. I need info from clever folk on 130 ambulances

Aren`t the coachbuilders for these Marshalls of Cambridge ? They should be able to give you dimensions. Alternative would be one of the dealers on Milweb - Leavesleys or Witham might be a good bet. Do you definitely need all that headroom ? I reckon there are more 127 and 130 ex utility...

I'm just a girl so where do I start??

Give the Diesel Centre in Stapenhurst a call - I think they also trade as RJ Landrovers - they are primarily sales but if you speak to one of the guys (try Charles, he sold me an LSE) they should be able to point you in the direction of a good specialist - good guys when I dealt with them

    Colour help needed

When I last looked there were about 70 Landrover greens still listed. I`ve seen your green before on early model 110`s so your best bet would be to try a good paint supplier - Dingocroft have a pretty good website which lists all the LR greens with their colour codes, or send them a better photo...

should it stay or should it go now!!!

I don`t think this market suits cars like yours at auction, if you were going to sell it better to sell it privately as a project or spares/repairs. You have the perennial problem of not being able to do anything easily because the head is off, so to move the car you will need recovery or a...

    1st Landy - 1995 RRC called OLLI

have a look at previous owners - Virgin had a number of 94 and 95 white classics they used as chauffeur cars for airport runs. I had a white Calssic for 10 years - you will spend a lot of time cleaning it if you want it to keep looking decent. Looks a very nice car though - good luck with it

    Help needed Please

I`m not aware of any independent specialists in South London, you might have to go out a bit further.I`ve genuinely never seen any specialists advertising in your neck of the woods Not wishing to malign your local garage but after owning a few LandRover products and using both specialists and...
