    Mot

Bit like mine, leaking diff but it never drips, just the underside of the diff is permanently shiny. I never even had it as an advisory last year even tho I was expecting but you know how it is, I could wipe all the oil off the diff this year and if theres even a hint of oil from any of the...

Freelander 1 Rear diff mount and front prop coupling movement

What type of bearings did you get 23k out of Hippo? I just changed mine recently and found the ones which had been fitted a year ( 6k miles covered) previous by a garage who told me they only used genuine gkn had actually fitted bearings made by made by BJS..the new supplier of lr parts ...made...

    Bearing noise but not bearings...

Your OP does suggest you checked the VCU bearings.....or " actual bearings" as you had put it. It sounds quite likely that these are the source of your noise. Hopefully it will be as they are straight forward to change and relatively cheap.

    Cheap Disco 2

+1, demand a years MOT too and you could do well. As said give chassis a good check..but miles d8nt cause corrosion generally...environment does.

    MAF operation

EGR bypass done. I havent on mine and have always noticed same and have put it down to EGR still being as original which will contribute to being down on power a bit until engine is warm and breathing fresh air.

MAF - How often should it be replaced?

Great, thats the real benefit of the forum, glad you got it sorted.

    Newbie here thats feeling 'drained'.

Welcome mickmc. As BillyJacksuggested its sounds like somethings being fouled up somewhere and possibly creating a short. Until you find out what it may be worth removing the fuse for your reverse lights....if there is one, to see if it prevents your battery drain in the meantime.

MAF - How often should it be replaced?

This issue sounds typical of a sticky turbo wastegate. 5 mins to check and free up. Id be doing that before spending any cash. Do a search and youl find it.

    Wont turnover

What did you try and jump start from?. Was the battery of jump donor at least as big as yours? It sounds like shortage of power.

    Rasping noise when driving

Amazing how peoples description of a noise can vary but im guessing prop shaft bearings, either that or have look underneath and make sure your prop shaft or any of the drive shafts have picked up plastic bags etc. If you find any keep them cos they are worth 5p now ;)

Caliper guide pin bolts for 2000 onwards.

Probably, I could only undo the lower bolt on each side on mine, which is why ive been looking for replacements as I wrecked the heads trying to slack the upper ones, thinking I would have to get both out in order to change the discs...then the lights came on and I removed the carrier. Would...

Caliper guide pin bolts for 2000 onwards.

Thanks, this link shows guide pins and I do have the pin set for my year, 2003, the one with the rubbers on. Looking again at parts last night im pretty sure the internal threads, into which the guide pin bolts would be inserted are m8 fine, 1.0mm pitch. The stc 1914 bolts look correct but...
