    Tax Refund

The automatic refund only applies to tax bought under the new system, with no tax disk. If you had a valid tax disk it still stays with the car unless you send it back for a refund. The various explanations do not take account of the transitional period where many cars still have disks, bought...

2010 RR Vogue SE side steps

When I got fed up with welding up the running boards on my old Classic, I got a pair of Bearmach. I then moved them on to my next Classic - so I've had them at least 10 years and they look just like new. Galvanised, heavy metal, substantial rubber. Worth investigating what they offer now for...

replacing static seats with suspension seats!

Head restraints are called that because they are not to do with comfort (head rests), or with holding your head up when flooring it away from the lights, but avoiding whiplash injuries in an accident. If they weren't present I can't imagine you would have any luck with an insurance claim for...

Problem I see with these forklift seats is that non of them have head restraints.

Need advice before I buy, Road tax and insurance

Can't see any reason why there would be a specialist MOT - but if you're concerned just ring the garage you use and ask them. As for insurance, quotes can vary by hundreds of pounds. Firstly, I imagine it will be on a commercial registration, which could have an effect either way. Comparison...

    Wheelbrace adapter

I carry a socket set and a torque wrench. If the nut is really tight you can't apply decent leverage with those flimsy things - and the X-brace type take up far too much room.

    Spotlights on a Classic

When I had my previous Rangie I seem to remember seeing a front grill with cutouts to sink the spots, or possibly secondary headlights? I thought that looked pretty cool.

    Rr l322 lpg converted! Help!!!

Ok, I'll kick off with a few thoughts based on my 3.9 Classic. On local driving she will be VERY thirsty - stop/start, hardly getting to top gear, etc. I'm assuming that like mine she starts off on petrol and switches over when temp/revs rise? And the poor starting is on petrol? If so then...

    Electronic ignition 3.5 v8

If points are difficult to get, and you find a good supply, get several for the future! LPG saves about a third on fuel costs, not half, so it would never pay for itself on 1000 miles a year.

Fixed Penalty Ticket for Range Rover

But private vehicles are categorised by weight - as in this discussion, and a thread also running at the moment on towing with different driving licences. All my vehicles (3) from various eras, all have a plate giving this info.

    Electronic ignition 3.5 v8

On the question of points v electronic, if you have points make sure you have the knowledge and kit to clean and adjust them, and carry a spare set of contacts and condenser.

    Electronic ignition 3.5 v8

I have LPG on a V8 Range Rover. Can't tell the difference from petrol in terms of performance. As you get less MPG with LPG, this somewhat offsets the saving of the lower price - I reckon it cuts about a third off my fuel costs. Frankly, I doubt it would be worth the cost and bother for 1000 a...

Fixed Penalty Ticket for Range Rover

See this from DVLA; https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-weights-explained It applies to all vehicles, not just goods. And you can reduce the plated weight if you wish.

Fixed Penalty Ticket for Range Rover

I know you can get a trailer replated to a lower GVW - I wonder if you can do the same to a car? If the bridge is really useful, and you can stand to lose 50kg of load weight, might this be an option?

Can I tow my caravan on my licence?

Why not take the extra test? I gather it's not that difficult, and then you would solve all these problems. of course there's a fee, and the cost of the lessons - you have to take the test in a school vehicle, as the trailer has to be certified as to weight loading etc. As a secondary thought...
