    thanks, interesting link my turbo is off a 300 tdi disco so t25 right? didnt think you could rebuild them without balancing the assembly but thats a cheap way to to fix it! cheers

    I have about 2- 3mm side to side play and no up and down play in my spare turbo's impeller spindle, when it was on the disco it didnt smoke and worked fine and now I want to fit it to another engine. worth it or chuck it? cheers

I had exactly the same problem, changed the cam belt with a good quality kit(machined crankshaft pully not welded one) and the smoking completely disappeared. before the change mine would smoke heavily on start up (blue) and turn to blue/white until the engine...

    ok good info, does the 4.6 box have a different gearchange curve to the diesel? I put a 300 tdi into a classic RR with the 3.9v8 box and the gearchange was a bit weird! If I buy an auto I think I will just run it until the box goes bang and then fit the 4.6 one. do you know what the max...

    Yes sounds like it same as for the 300 tdi standard turbo raising the boost just takes it out of its design parameters and it becomes very inefficient My understanding of increasing diesel engine performance, and I assume its more or less the same for all diesels, to get more power you need...

    not a vnt one wont, the idea is to remove (almost) turbo lag not increase it the one fitted to my 300 tdi disco comes on boost at about 1100rpm and stays on all the way up to 4000+ it makes a world of difference from the standard turbo. as you probably know vnt turbos are designed to minimise...

    Hmm! the car I am interested in has a manual box fitted I assumed the manual boxes were r380's which take a good bit of torque, Is that not the case?

    I asked the question because when I upped the fueling on my 300 tdi and fitted a bigger intercooler and a vnt turbo fuel consumption actually improved, it used to do 29-30 now it does 34 - 35mpg if driven "normally2 reason being there is so much more tourque that throttle openings are smaller...

    VNT on a 300tdi

    the other companies I looked at were M&D engineering and alisport both of which I believe use the turbo from the 2.8 brazil engine which I didnt want and they were also pretty expensive at around £1500 for the kit. there was also an italian kit that was pretty cheap but it looked a bit "home made"
