    I used genuine LR or mann or mahle oil filters , Never had one fall apart like that and last thing you want is bits of paper filter blocking engine oil ways :eek:

    Would you not have noticed that when replacing the O-rings on the top part ? , Or was it in the bottom part ? I normally clean as much of the old oil out of there with an old cloth !

    Common mistake you need to remove the larger complete under tray unit ? So 6 x 13mm bolts , 6 x screws , 2 x 10mm bolts to remove . The screws were rusty & chewed up and I had to cut slots in to remove them , Now replaced with stainless steel one's ! BTW - goggle search for "...

    Mine were also the cheaper recommended one's that bell's use from shop4autoparts . Is it the washer that fits on the prop end and go's in the cup side of bearing , Mine had pleanty of clearance in there ?

    A good cold chisel should not bend :eek: You need to keep the vcu/prop in line then you can place a flat metal bar ( tyre lever works well )to span the two UJ joints then good quality small cold chisel between support bar and bolt head , Using this method with 2 cold chisels from each side...

    Yes the back spline was easy and the front spline was stuck on a bit more but came apart ok . All I can say is make sure it's supported on wooden blocks and wind the bolt out so a tapered cold chisel fits down but rests on BOTH PARTS of the UJ joint , Then firm blows with a heavy club hammer (...

    Update :) Old VCU was collected Monday & today had a call from ken at bell's , He had received & tested my old VCU already :banana: The result was that my old VCU was ok but very slightly tight and would have been ok for maybe another 10,000 miles . I don't think the prop bearings would...
