    Wheel Offset

Please could someone just confirm, since googling gives me mixed responses. currently I have a set of boost alloys, which I think have an ET+33? Along with spacers to make them fit my older axles, which effectively means they come out at about ET0. I’m thinking about changing to steel wheels...

3.9 V8 Serpentive Oil Take Off

Does anyone happen to know off the top of their head what the thread is for the oil cooler take off that come out vertically downwards, just in front of the sump? I'm going to tidy up my oil cooler install and need a new fitting there. Potentially blanking plug and oil take off plate to replace...

    How bad is this chassis!!???

Me too. 33 years and counting. Hoping for 40 and then I will re-chassis.

    brakes help

But to have it to the extent the OP describes, it’d be outrageous wheel wobble? And stationary, that symptom doesn’t present itself in my experience. I did have loose bearing on my wagon once though. Pedal sometimes was solid (if stationary say), but drive a few metres and it’d drop a bit...

    Am l being tracked?

I have a couple of them. They look just like relays, but don't work just like relays though. Nevertheless they are brilliant and can be used as both a tracker and a remote immobiliser. Although if you are IT savvy, you probably should switch the logging end point to be your own server, not their...

    Worst tool you've ever bought?

Yes, there's nothing "Easy" about them is there. Guaranteed to make the job harder.

2 sets of the same switches. Everyone needs a zombie light switch though.

    Defender Dashboard Porn !!

Thanks. Yes, will slowly work towards better noise insulation along with making it a bit drier too. Hopefully the gearbox noise will mostly be resolved by the new gearbox on it's way. It will be a game changer - it's been noisy for a decade! But I got used to it - usually wore some blue-tooth...

    Defender Dashboard Porn !!

I really like this. (the flat dash one). I've been measuring and I think there's a few shallow depth double din units that will fit without major surgery - so once I have the wagon back together I will look at this - but as an add-on rather than a whole new dash. Particularly want a double...

    Worst tool you've ever bought?

This thread is clearly going to get expensive for me.

    Worst tool you've ever bought?

Tricky to be sure what the actual worst tool is, they all have their moments when the job is going wrong. Any B&Q own brand tool is pretty dire though. A current hate is laser plastic 6 wheeled creepers. I seem to break them rapidly, I can see I’ll end up making my own soon.

    Bulkheads

Nearly done this side, just a couple more bits to make. Actually quite a lot of work to make all the bits. Not sure I can be bothered with the other side at the moment, I might patch it for the time being.

Good for you. We're not knocking it - it'll be a fun conversion. As long as your expectations are realistic.

Happy to - but won't sidetrack this thread any more with it.

    land rover 90 Chrysler 360 v8 project

And if you're in Berkshire, I bet you know Dave/Wiggy @ Safari Engineering in Yateley? Before the internet, I spent many Saturday mornings there buying bits. My current wagon actually came via him, my Stage 1 V8 had died a few years earlier (and was worthless back then), so I popped over one...

    land rover 90 Chrysler 360 v8 project

If I wasn't happy with the power I could easily get from a Rover V8 (I am running a meagre 3.9 one, so my next step would be a 4.6 - but a top hat 4.6 does command a premium. But as mine is factory V8, I will stay Rover), I'd be going modern chevy LS V8, not a 1975 chrysler. They can be picked...

    90 wiring loom

I think they come out of the factory like that. I'm not joking, mine is a 1989 too. It's not tidy behind there, but fortunately it is logical and simple though.

    Blowing Turbos

Just to add how important it is to manage any oil coming through the turbo into the intake system. Things escalate quickly - I thought it was so rare are to almost be an urban myth about diesels running away while burning engine oil. Until I was filling up at the petrol station one day and this...

    Where to buy parts?

My HB linkage all seized up. I dunno why, but I got carried away and replaced it with x-brake from foundry 4x4 (which is a disk transmission brake that uses a JCB mechanical caliper on the disk). It's both a brilliant bit of kit and completely wasted on me. A well maintained drum transmission...
