    Heated Front Screen

Is anyone able to confirm what fuse rating I need for a heated front screen, part number LR058447. Some sources say 20A (John Craddock, for example), some say 30, some say 40. My wiring design will differ depending. Thank you. :)

    Indicator issues

I found this, for me anyway, was poor. It solved the flashing issue, but the LED warning light was too dim to be useful. I also ran all new earths for everything - I still got the crossover flashing. So in the end I put a 20 Ohm, 20Watt, Ceramic resistor on each side circuit, installed in the...

3.9efi started to back fire after engine service

I have had engines that ONLY run correctly with the right NGK (or whatever) plug - some engines are very specific. My 2003 RS6 V8 - well documented that anything other than the correct NGK plus is asking for trouble - people have tried. Same goes for my old saab. Nevertheless, in general terms...

    Fuel Tank Options

I was looking in to that the other day. As mine is a factory V8, I think I've already got the 1.2 ratio transfer box. I was contemplating putting a roamerdrive on it (Because what's better than 10 forward gears and 2 gear levers - well, 20 & 3, clearly!) But I thought with the 1.2 transfer box...

    Fuel Tank Options

Yeah, I'll have to check my number there - car has been off the road for a while, but I was sure it gets just a sniff under 20mpg. So maybe I'm mis-remember how many miles I get to a tank. Anyway, I'd still like a bit more range. :)

    RDX Fuse Box Switch Pod

Cut & welded the gear lever - this shifts it back by about 1/2" and lowers the dogleg by by about 5/8" - just about creates enough clearance now - this is it in 3rd. Reverse is a little bit closer, but I think still OK. Obviously I could do more major surgery - but trying to K.I.S.S.

    LT85/V8 Carpet Options

Hi All. Slowly getting the wagon back together - but could do with some front carpet/matting at some point. The only 2 options I can see are the Lucari Hardura setup and Exmoor do a "premium" carpet set. Of those 2, I think I favour the exmoor trim option. Howqever I'd actually like something...

    RDX Fuse Box Switch Pod

That is such a good point that I've had to go out and double check, since yes, I did have the stick angled on the splines towards the driver. Sadly, even with the stick straight back, still fouls. I don't think it'll be too big a deal to solve - and I guess it's just a function of the where...

    RDX Fuse Box Switch Pod

Sneak preview. I really like it, with just one problem - the LT85 gear lever fouls it in 1st, 3rd & 5th. They didn't say that in the ad! I guess on an LT77 or R380 gearbox it's in a different location so you'll be OK. But - I still really like it and I don't want to have to remake the entire...

    Defender heating not sufficient.

Have to admit, don't really understand this "engine not warming up enough" stuff. Of the ones I've owned (to be fair, one of which was my parents discovery 300tdi when I was a lad, but I used it), all warm up just fine in any weather as long as the thermostat is good. And my buddies 4x - all the...

    Defender heating not sufficient.

My V8 in the garage yesterday, startup & idling, had the gauge up to temp in < 10 minutes. And that's just idling, no load, although prob not quite thermostat open. Generaly speaking, for all modernish defenders, the engine warms up just fine, this issue is just the crap heater and lots of gaps...

    Defender heating not sufficient.

I've just installed a 2nd heater unit in mine, under the centre cuddy. Completely hidden, except for the air vent.

    Best 90 Fuel Tank - ESR2242

Morning. I think I am going to replace my fuel tank - while I have the car in bits, it's going to be less effort. Reading through historical threads it seems there's some variation in quality. I'm not hugely keen on spending the £ for an OE one - is there any particular aftermarket one that is...

    Fuel Tank Options

Yeah. The motor’s in lovely nick, super clean under the rocker covers unlike the old days. But I can just very slightly hear the stock cam in it has one lobe a little noisier. Am deciding whether to rebuild it as a 4.6 with some nice heads or just to do the cam in it “as is”. But unlikely to do...

    Fuel Tank Options

Yeah, I’ll hook up the laptop and fine tune it a bit once it’s all up and running again, I’ve learnt a lot since I wrote this map. But even so, the 3.9 V8 is always gonna be juicy.

    Fuel Tank Options

Honestly still can’t think of a cooling need for over fuelling. Certainly you do want to over fuel slightly at 100%, but you’re not cooling the engine, you’re cooling the ignition mixture, plus, just by the way it works, for max power you very slightly over fuel too. And that’s not engine temp...

Going "Full LED" - lessons learnt

Yes. Full beam is about 2.3 amps on the LED (per side) vs 4.6ish on a 55W halogen. For a much better light beam & pattern too.

    Fuel Tank Options

In fact, here you go. Here's the page where you can control fuelling as a function of temperature. This is a fairly typical curve - actually quite conservative on the warm up side of things. But enough. You could, if you wanted, dump extra fuel. Quite why you would on a normal road engine...
