    Oil Leak.

Had a similar problem with my L series. Some of the sump bolts were coming loose, the oil filter was not turned on tight enough (by Landy dealer) and the oil pump pipe connection to the oil filter housing was loose. Tightened these up and no more oil leak. Worthwhile taking a look, but best to...

    whining while slowing down??

Could be uneven wear on the tyres..... I had this problem and it almost sounded like a wheel bearing at the rear. After changing tyres no more noise. Edges were worn with a saw tooth like effect. This is caused by the IRD ratio being incorrect in the older models, and as a result a "dragging"...

    increasing road noise

Check tyres for uneven wear/flat spots on the tread. Also check for saw tooth like effect on side of tread pattern. Exchange tyre with spare and if noise goes away you know it is the tyre. I had same problem and new tyres sorted it out.

    Mondo mode

I just removed the propshaft. Nothing needs to be done after removing. I removed both front propshaft, VCU and rear propshaft. Been like that for 2 years now.

    coolant

Had the same problem and smell... turned out to be the heater matrix. Do as Darmain suggested.

    poor heater

Think I prefer the heat....... but you cannot put the fan on full speed when the aircon is running. After a few minutes you get water flying out the airvents from the condensation. Not just my hippo, but a pal with his TD4 has the same problem. Water shorted out his radio after some time...

    poor heater

I need the opposite... more cold air out..... it HOT :mad2: here in South Africa, and the air flow in the Hippo leaves much to be desired.

    Vibration after removing propshafts

It will be interesting to see if it makes a difference..... please let us know. However I had the problem before removing the propshaft, so eliminated that. I thought maybe an engine mounting that is starting to go... I was planning to check the mountings out but am on crutches at the moment...

    Vibration after removing propshafts

I have the same model, and also removed the drivetrain (front and rear propshafts and VCU). I have a similar shudder, but it was there from the day I bought the vechicle. Removing the propshaft (2 years later) made no difference to this. I experience this shudder just below 60 km/h (35 mph) in...

Tired on Condensation on the front windscreen

I developed a problem with condensation, mostly on the left side of the windscreen when the air was cool or cold outside. Not much later found the heater matrix was leaking. After replacing the heater matrix (big job), no more condensation. :)

    help please

I took off my complete propshaft (front and rear) and VCU and been driving mondo mode 2 years now (50 000km) no problem.:o I let insurance know, and it is noted as such on my policy, so I am covered. Then you can drive and decide to fix when it suits you. Just remember you are now driving a...

    Dipstick won't go back in...

Had the same problem with my L series. The plastic tip just helps guide the dipstick down the tube around a bend, it seems. The markings are on the dipstick for max and min levels. My pastic tip fell off outside the tube. After that I could not get the dipstick all the way down, so then just...

    Rattle Underneath

Check exhaust bracket that bolt bolts to gearbox..... mine had a crack. Difficult to see, you need to use a torch/light to see. Not easy to see crack..... only after several attempts did we spot it. Did not make a noise when you shook the exhaust, but sounded like a loose heat sheild when you...

Humming noise - Rear passenger side, I think

Could be your tyres... put spare on right rear and see if noise is gone. Else swop tyres front and rear and see if noise moves from back to front. Could be caused by a flat spot/uneven wear on circumference (tread) of tyres.

    Urgent Help

Check your earth connection on your brake lights and headlights... faulty earth can do strange things.

XEDI - is it worthwhile blanking off EGR

For the L series engine, would disconnecting or blanking off the EGR be recommended? Mine is working fine now, but would it be advisable to prevent problems further down the line?

Expertise needed, BMW or L serie engine?

Had the same problem.. ended up it is a Rover L series engine. My vin number matches yours (SALLNABB7YA...). Landrover dealer's computer says it is a TD4, but in fact it is a XEDI, with the Rover L series engine.

    Road Noise

A possibility is tyres. Check tyres for uneven wear, like a flat spot. Not always easily visible, but you should see it on close inspection. Normally happens on rear tyres. I had this problem. Changed tyres and problem solved.
