Had this on a 300tdi - and ABS light wouldn't go off neither when it happened. Bad earth! Ran a new earth lead to chassis from earth terminal; cured headlight and ABS light at same time!

Here's a pic of some things to check - BUT, if you don't know what yr doing - get it fixed professionally. A steering fault like yrs can kill you and others so why take the risk?????????????????????????????
