Completely agree. Used a BM750 on my FL1 and have just fitted one to a ZR105. On that engine, the liners were practically level with the block deck height. Unfortunately, the coolant system on this car is full of the dreaded cream cheese/ Mayo - I am wondering about running a few coolant...

This actually sounds more like an inlet manifold gasket failure. Oddly, this does tend to fail on cylinder 4 inlet for some reason.

It's the same as the one used on the MGF and Toyota if I recall correctly :)

That's annoying - I am not sure how to advise either? I've had "fun" with the three amigos over the years I have had my FL1, but it has never been with the brake warning light as well. Brake switch issue may be? Does the Hawkeye give you live data on what information the Yaw and wheel speed...

Just doing an MGZR with the 1.4 litre K series. Someone used an MLS in the past, but the liners are flush with the block deck face. For the MLS to seal properly, the liners need about 2 thou of an inch stand proud. BW750 is a much better choice here as it will seal the fire rings adequately.

N-series gasket will work - I believe that the oil and coolant pathways are generally very similar to the K-series that it is clearly based on. FWIW I’m using the BW750 on the MGZR 105 I’m recommissioning for my daughter to learn to drive in :)

If you’re taking the sump off as part of a rebuild, then fine. Otherwise, I’m with you: I wouldn’t bother…

My anxiety with this kind of gasket failure (i.e. leak of the gasket fire rings) are two fold: 1. The cylinder head has gone through a severe heat cycle and has gone soft 2. The cylinder liners have dropped. I know you'll be checking both of those things. If the liner stand proud is less than...

You were charged 200 quid for that? Jeepers. is the plug intact? Might be an idea to replace the sensor that comes with a fresh cable.

No worries at all! If Defenders can have galv chassis, why not FL galv subframes?
