    Series 3 opinions

It looks like there are a lot of "OLD UNS" on here who started to drive in proper cars. I started in a series 2 when I was 13. Took my test in a 1948 Ford 10. Having driven a wide variety of vehicles from sports cars to artics to tractors and crawlers over nearly 50 years, I am now of the...

    Replacement Series 3 engine

Looking to replace my engine which is now extremely tired, smokey and rattly - more than normal:rolleyes:. Haven't time or cash for a rebuild. Saw one advertised last week for about four hundred pounds, reconditioned, but it had stood for three years. :eek...

    Exmoor Trim Disappointment

I often wonder if manufacturers or suppliers read the comments on the Forum . They might get to imnprove their customer relations if they did. Personally I never had any problems with Exmoor for the seat I ordered. Got it, and retractable seat belts, from Matt Savage who is most helpful.

What is the correct engine oil for series 3 diesel ?

Recently suggested to me that the old Duckhams was good. Think 30/50. Also helps to keep the smoke down!

    Lost Main Beam lights

Thanks for the help everyone. Will try the diamond spatula first then the connections. Not had time to eliminate other as away a lot. I suspect it may be connections possibly due to water a couple of weeks ago.

    Anyone know Baz?

Bought a Series 3 (VGX reg) last year which was previously owned by Barry (Baz) who I think belonged to Buxton & District landrover club. She needs a bit of paint and I want to know what colour he used - its not NATO green :o and I would like to contact him.

    Locking Hubs query ?

Hi, If you search this in "Search this thread" and put in "locking hubs" there is a good thread which should help you. Basically hubs not locked only 2wd either in high or low box. Hubs locked four wheel drive in high and low box. Advice is not to use on tarmac it can cause expensive problems

    Lost Main Beam lights

Yesterday I lost my main beam and flasher. Took the indicator assembly apart and cleaned the contacts which gave me back my flashing capability but still no full beam. Suspect switch knackered. Is it possible to replace the indicator assembly and.. more important .. are they still...

    Overland Scandinavia

Hi Cassie Sounds a good trip. Should still be some snow on roads in April but better still in May. There can (will) still be snow on the mountains in July & August  but roads will be clear. Insa Special Track very good in snow but for ice you will need studs or chains. Chains would be the...

    OLD Landy Thefts

Just posted on the stolen forum but it seems that Defenders have had their day  Derbyshire police now say OLD landys are being nicked in the county. Suggest series drivers up their security with steering lock and hidden cut off switch to confuse the bastards.

Thefts of OLD Landrovers in Derbyshire

Just had an automated message from Derbyshire police. They say that there has been a large increase of thefts of OLD Landys in the county. They did not say how old but I suspect that Series vehicles are now the target. What with the snow I expect that this will not just apply to Derbyshire. It...

    Freewheel Hubs Leaking

AVM hubs are leaking. I know gasket sets are now obsolete and I will have too make my own. Question is do I undo the small "allen keys" on the locking knob or the larger bolts on the hub to renew. Will anything fall out if I'm not careful :eek:
