    Take the whole mechanism apart, clean, lube and check the drum and shoes for wear. Replace them if necessary. Good for a very long time afterwards and very easy to do.

    I used the MHM's idea this weekend and sprayed cheap household polish onto all the rubber door seals and into the door locks on my Landies and the Polo. All of them opened perfectly over the weekend.:)

    Recheck the timing. I did a 200Tdi conversion and changed the Timing belt and still swear bliind we did it properly. I would start but run at rev's and loads of blue/white smoke. It was 1 tooth out.
