    Heater earth

Sounds like wherever it is earthed to it has corroded a bit and all the components are grounding through each other. Sorry no idea where it goes to. Either trace it to the source or run a new ground cable.

    Heater earth

The earth is in the heater fan switch in the dashboard. The switch contains 3 connections. Low speed, high speed and Earth.

    Cold Air Feed

errrr, don't want to be stoopid or nuffin, but can't you measure it as you don't have the pipe on the turbo inlet yet? Mines already fitted and stuffed under all the pipework so I'm not going to remove it to measure it ;-)

    Very Leaky 90

It's the door seal where it is attached to the vehicle itself, not where it is pressed against teh door when it is shut. You need to take off the door seal, full the channet in the seal that attaches to the door frame with sealant then stick it all back on. The water flows over the gutter, down...

    200Tdi replacing TD?

Yes but the pipework routing will make your imagination melt.

    200tdi mileage question

Mine had 188K miles on it when I dropped it into my 110. More miles than my 110 had done.

Questions for anyone with a Disco 200TDi in their Defender

I used the Disco 1 header tank. I used the TD water pipe and extended the pipe into the bottom of the header with some copper pipe and jubilee clips. Cut the bottom thin hose in the middle, insert the copper pipe and clip it up. Works fine. I used the Disco air filter housing as it's designed...

Disco 200TDi into 2.5TD Defender progress

Excellent! Nice to see my list of work to do is helping out others. I am doing another 110 for a mate and it's made life so much easier just following my instructions. No nasty gotcha's on his. I did find that putting the starter motor wiring on before lowering the engine into place and lining...

Wiltshire TRO Proposal - Objection Required

Just used the online form to place my objections. <snip> I am totally against these proposals. Reasons: If you wish to close them on the safety grounds in your reasons document then all tarmaced roads should be closed also. All roads get damaged over time. It is the local authorities job to...

    Drilling a 36mm hole!

I managed to drill a 30mm hole into a 5mm mild steel plate the other night with a cone drill no problem, and I know the ones I bought from Lidl go up to 36mm, so I would say it's the easiest option.

    Black smoke vegetable oil

You can try but black smoke is over-fuelling or air shortage. Have you tried a new air filter first? Veg oil will clean out all the crap from your tank and block up your fuel filters so change the fuel filter after 200 to 300 miles and carry a spare. Oh and black smoke under load and...

    Rear door wheel mounting

The hanging bolts should have and extra nut on it for the rim to rest against. This can be undone to force the rim to sit further away from the rear door.

    Drilling a 36mm hole!

You are going to need a step drill, a good strong power drill, WD40 to cool and lubricate and plenty of time. And a pilot hole.

errr Mr Mad hat man sir....

MMMM looks like the wiring I ripped out of my 90 'cos it was dangerous and didn't work anyway..... minus the 3 relays in series.

    Intercooler/Rad

The guage is calibrated to the temperatures for the 2.5TD not the 200Tdi. If you want the guage to sit in the right place then you need to get a 200Tdi guage for the defender and the 200Tdi sender. Or you could get a digital temperature setup and see what temperature the engine sits at during...

What type of lathe's do you have.

Toolco 920 chinese thing. S'OK for the stuff I want to make or repair. I would love a Colchester or something big, but space and money prohibit that. The Machine Mart band saw is the BEST workshop power tool I have. So quick at cutting through 5mm plate for welding patches. Got a VERY large...
