    yep, as others have said, for panel work and thin gauge I find .6mm easier and less prone to blowing holes, but for chassis or major structural members you need the extra power going in from the thicker wire.     yep, taps and dies are one of those items where the price really does make a difference. I wouldn't buy from ebay or online until you've got your head round wha'ts good and what's not, find out the local tool shop - the one all the local factories and workshops use, it'l be full a right bunch...

    heat it up, but, it all depends on the bend radius of the tube you've got, use loads at work and it never ceases to amaze me how variable the differing tubes are.

    as for getting hold of pro quality chassis paint, check your local yellow pages for car bodyshop suppliers, they tend to be a bit focused on the professionals but some can be very patient with us amateurs given the chance, round here its Border Automotive in Shrewsbury, and they are real helpful

    as has been said, big hammer, irwin bolt grips - not often used but when they are needed they are worth every penny, Bahco socket set - got a 1/2inch one but my little 1/4inch seems to be used all of the time.
