    Removing ACE

It would be hard for you to remove ACE if you're inexperienced. You also need a diagnostic tool to tell the vehicle's brain it no longer has ACE (otherwise the warning light will stay on). You also need to work on the AUX belt, and replace the front anti-roll-bar. It's unlikely that...

    TD5 ACE pipes

Mine corroded though on an 02 plate about a year ago - same age as yours. And the car had been waxoyled (but had done ~160000 miles). I had also suffered with the ACE light glowing amber (an upper accelerometer intermittant failure). If one pipe has gone, you will probably find the other's...

    TD5 ACE pipes

If you are on coil springs, you will notice very little difference in driving quality of you remove the ACE completely (and fit the "normal" anti-roll bars, and the aux belt jockey wheel)...

    Strange TD5 starting problem

If it happens again, see if the noise from the fuel pump is different (mine sounded like air bubbles in the fuel)...

    Door won't open.

Snuggles - is this a Disco 1 or 2? If it's a D2, you will almost certainly need a new lock mechanism. I recently had a similar problem on the back door of a D2 http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/discovery-2-tailgate-lock-127980.html On a D2, the part would be FF004455 for a passenger...

    Strange TD5 starting problem

Sounds exactly the same as mine: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f8/td5-starting-problem-131706.html I spent ages tracing the fuel system. all for nought - listen to CharlesY...! Don't know where you live, but if in Scotland I think my repair bill was OK at Whites... It was too big a job...

    Is the disco quiet?

Could be worse...imagine driving an Mitsubishi...with "WARRIOR" written on it...then you really would feel a prat! Time for a bag over the head in case anyone recognises me...

TD5 Hub Replace, lose ABS, add Diff Lock

Yes, thebiglad, I agree, I was concerned regards the insurance angle. It never worried me when taking the ACE off, because plenty of other Disco models in the range didn't have ACE, but they do all have HDC/ABS/TC, so it's a complete modification rather than a downgrade form a GS to an S for...

    Is the disco quiet?

I have a D2 TD5. My mate has 2008 Freelander 2. No comparison. Anything over 65 mph in the Disco, and it's pretty noisy. You do feel the need to speak-up a bit for normal conversation - especially if you're talking to people in the back. In the Freelander it's more like a car than a...

TD5 Hub Replace, lose ABS, add Diff Lock

I was just doing some thinking. My TD5 is probably getting ready for it's second set of front hubs (the TAY100060). They were last done at 94,000 miles, and I'm now on 175,000 miles. We long-term D2 owners all know how expensive that is! Just a thought - now the cars are getting older...

Fitting cruise control to Disco TD5 2002

Yes, I fitted one, mines Manual, works a treat. Takes about an hour to fit (I had never moved an airbag so I took my time)...

    Headlights

Just bought some Philips Extreme Power bulbs (h4), not fitted them yet. Already put H7's on my other car and it's a great improvement. Was thinking of wiring the fog lights as driving lights (i.e. so they come on with full beam), to "fill in" the near ground when full beam is on. Maybe...

    Dual mass flywheel play

See this Land rover product recalls/service bulletins - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum I undersood there were some aftermarket item Td5 Heavy Duty Clutch Kit (DA2357HD) For Sale At Brookwells Land Rover Parts which helps? Mine failed at 90,000 miles, but the replacement is still going strong...

BP Filters - use or not???

I wouldn't choose them as oil filters, personally for the extra few quid I would have peace-of-mind. That's not to say there's anything wrong with them, just peace-of-mind I always use manufacturer-branded oil filters in all my vehicles...it's just not worth the risk for a couple of quid...

    Tow Bar Electrics

Assuming N type socket, you need STC50081 for the genuine LR part. Fitting is simplicity itself, there's a socket behind the drivers side rear light cluster, you plug into that multiplug, route the cable, and it's done Put STC50081 into Google - should be around £40.

Three Amigos and wheel bearings - TD5

FYI there's a really good guide here for replacing the front wheel bearings (with ABS sensor): www.discovery2.co.uk / Front Wheel Hub / Bearing Assy My Disco (174000 miles, 2002) has had both fronts replaced, and one rear (one rear still original). Neither of the fronts caused the 3...

    Disco II Lights

Not that I know of. I have replaced all the bulbs with LED versions and so far it hasn't blown a single one (whereasI used to replace the "normal" bulbs relatively frequently). These guys may be worth a ring: Upgrades for Land Rover vehicles : LED Lights, Marker Truck LED Vehicle Lighting...

Insurance Question, and i have searched honest

Adrian Flux, third party fire & theft, no no claims (I use my no claims on my other car which has full business usage insured). ~£140. Happy with TPFT as I'm likely to do any/most self-inflicted repairs myself, and the vehicle is fully-depreciated anyway with 174000 miles up.
