    Essex lanes

Almost the whole county is locked down between October and April, and by locked down I mean padlocked gates.

    Essex lanes

Ah, I think you've probably got the wrong idea about SLROC maintenance days. The maintenance taking place is not to do with members vehicles but the upkeep of the site and courses at Newbourne. We encourage our members to put right the mess they make with their nasty uber-aggresive tyres :lol...

    Green lanes in Derbyshire

Good idea to go with experienced guys. Just for a bit of news though, it seems that Long Causeway (Stanage Edge) has been modified to Nyway Open to All Traffic, which is nice. There were some nasty objections but common sense thankfully previaled. Oh yes, and Chapelgate has been TRO'd for...

    Green lanes in Derbyshire

THey are mostly old pics aren't they. Stanage going up - not any more please. Bakewell Ford - not legal anymore. That's the sort of site that can seriously catch you out, and when you consider that you can have your motor seized for being in the wrong place, it makes a lot of sense to make a...

    Green lanes totternhoe.

My thoughts would be that the term 'footway' tends to mark it down as just that, although never having been that way I don't know. One of those times when a trip to the RoW office is in order. There is only one non-PTRO in the Totternhoe area and that is conveniently cut off by other PTRO's.

I think 3 Commando are due to be leaving this weekend but things change and I have no idea whether there is more training programmes lined up

    hertfordshire green lanes

Hmm must be copyright issue there, despite Youtube being public domain. Perhaps take the vids down and then demand that they do the same? Don't know if it will work but might throw a spanner in their works.

    Green lanes in Derbyshire

Absolutely, however you can see how it looks to those who want to keep the lanes open for everyone's enjoyment. Houndskirk Moor is another route suffering badly from Muppet Syndrome. Thankfully Operation Blackbrook seems to be having an effect in the area (google for more info).

    Gps and mem map

V unstable unfortunately but you can live with it. I have a bit of overkill in my motor. TomTom for postcodes when on 4x4 Response/SAR duties, Dell Axim X30 PDA running WM2003 for Memory Map (in conjunction with bluetooth gps mouse) and a Magellan 330 GPS which is also handheld and is used to...

    hertfordshire green lanes

Yes indeed, that text box flashing up telling people to f-off is about as immature as one could get and puts 4x4 drivers right into the stereotype that people's perceptions would expect. Pathetic and should be removed immediately.

    roads on maps...

So you drove down a lane for which you have no info, then did some research and found it's a non-vehicular Bridleway, thereby risking a s59 and the very real chance of having your motor seized and disposed of. Cart before the horse there, matey!

    Green lanes in Derbyshire

I think you'll find it more to do with the fact that they don't know who they are talking to, how you drive or if you have an ulterior motive. The last thing anyone wants is to unwittingly give a whole load of routes to someone who takes 10 motors out for a mudplugging sesh' on the upward...

    suffolk lanes

I love the Sutton Heath lanes, easy on the motor, easy to drive and totally sustainable in any weather, much like the majority of Kings Forest. That one was TRO'd for about 2 years quite a few years back due to severe rutting at the Rushmere end. We thought we were going to lose it completely...

Best advice? Join BADLRC - Buxton & District Land Rover Club. All the latest info from their RoW guy means you won't fall foul of the law.

    suffolk lanes

Can you PM the GR to me please, Stu. Need to try and keep on top of these. Just wondering why you think that a BOAT has to be 3metres wide as there is no specific width other than that which may be stated on the DMS.

    Byway

Ah well, if it was approved as a BOAT post-NERC, there is every chance that it would have been downgraded to RB. We had some lovely lanes that we were looking forward to driving out here, and they all got RB status.

    Hertfordshire Lanes?????

Well lessons learnt hopefully. Don't lane alone, Recce first if unsure, Don't be scared to say you are not confident of driving a lane Although I haven't driven that lane, I do have it marked on my MM as 'Recce! Narrow plus oak tree'. I certainly wouldn't go down any lane without first...
