    Freelander 1 Sump guard

wouldnt they have been horrendously heavy, 1 sqm 8 mm steel weighs 60 kg, I'd worry about the mountings bolts /threads and it would be like driving with someone sitting on the bonnet

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

Well, in the end, I got him down to €100 which is around 80 quid and I will make up a new bit to replace the centre drainage grill bit since I couldnt find another one around her that didnt need to be shipped in. Not sure whether to make a GRP one or an Ally one. I have Glass at work, but not...

My thermostat is not working and I want to do the 'hack' of putting the thermostat in the top hose or wherever I am in UK for Chrimbo until 27th and would like to get one (bugger I forgot to do this earlier!) Can anyone please tell me what the part number or something to search...

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

He replied with the weight, it was 18 kg But if people are using sheets of 4 mm steel, I guess weight isnt an option Tbh I only thought of the extra stress on the mountings, as its not much compared to the car weight I'd like to have a go at a GRP version, onto the Ally frame bit (when I get...

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

I would, if there was one on mine actually I'm going back to plan A - I know someone with the Ally bits and I will most probly laminate something up or get a bit of plate and make the missing placcy bit

    Freelander 1 Sump guard

Hi! What do you guys think about this? He is asking €150 (£125) but I could probably knock him down a bit Its here in Portugal so good for me Looks like steel replaces plastic bit - Too heavy? - Rust? Very difficult to get hold of one down here so I am ninterested What do the Gentlemen think?

Freelander 1 Alloy sump guard/ undertray

Thanks, Just yesterday I've actually found a scrappy that just does LR parts near Lisbon here! They say they have some complete (plastic and metal bits) belly pans for €95 each, that's just 80 of your Earth Pounds! So, to avoid fannying around I will just get one of them as I would have had to...

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

😁 1. I make sure she is never clean enough to look nice 2. "I am not worried about people stealing the car as I have arranged my own secret immobilisation system ..." I am very relieved with my solution I am far less worried about someone stealing her than me loosing the key, I know myself.

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

OK, its done! I epoxied the chip just outside the ring, between the plastic ring cover and the rubber ring cover The chip did have to be aligned correctly - it had to be parallel with the key shaft or it wouldn't work (but any rotation about its longer axis made no difference, it just had to...

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

Chip removed very carefully from key, it had been superglued in - I bet it was me - DOH! I did notice that the chip is asymmetric and shaped so that it can only fit in the recess in the key head one way up and one way round. I am guessing that this means that the alignment of the chip with...

Freelander 1 Anyone sorted key chip cloning??

Unfortunately the chip seems to have been glued into the key, so I havent got as far as I wanted to, but I did find that it worked next to the unchipped key head but only if I took the chipped key head appart so that the chip sat right against the unchipped key head, and also just inside the...
