Where were you able to locate & buy just the gear?

DON'T just fit a new turbo without checking the oil feed to it. If there is a problem with the oil feed/pressure you will just end up with another seized turbo.

Pity a nice sorted D2 didn't pass your way.

It's the air con drains next to the transmission tunnel that get you

There is some sort of resistance past the trigger, either the restrictor valve is closed or there is a blockage. Have you tried it with the valve further unscrewed? With it disconnected from the tin does it fire air through the discharge tube or down the pick up pipe?

There was a time when everyone wanted diesels with the brilliant 200tdi making the much thirstier V8 much less appealing but in recent years with all the bad press surrounding diesels etc. the surviving V8's appear to have become much more popular and strong sellers.

Values aren't great at the moment but many keep saying they are on the up although I haven't seen much evidence of this and any upward value may very well get wiped out as the low emission zones start to take effect. As with a lot of classics they are sometimes advertised at high prices but...

Air con drains are two duckbill rubber valves one either side of the gearbox tunnel, they just need a squeeze and a poke too to dislodge any crud blocking them from draining,

This is the sunroof/ A Pillar drain on the sill of the D2. Often gets covered over with waxoil etc. needs cleaning out with a cable tie.

Air con drains is always the first port of call for this problem as a quick poke cost zilch in time and money!

Not something i have heard of being replaced , normally the chassis is foobarred by the the time you get to replacing front end items on a D2 chassis.

This was the problem when my old W202 Merc. wasn't playing CDs, glad I'm not the only one.
