You need to get under it and locate the linkage for the transfer box which will be seized solid no doubt but a little bit of time and alot of wd40 should see you right

On a K plate its one of two gearboxes lt77 which has reverse away from you and forward or the r380 which is towards you and back for reverse. Both boxes are fine but the lt77 is regarded as being better that early r380s. It will have a center diff transfer box which will be lower geared than...

If yer disco is a seies one or two then its the same as the defender, check the bulkhead on the defender for corrosion

Sound quite reasonable Mike, just remember to check and doublecheck the chassis, also bein L reg it will probably have the R380 gearbox (reverse towards you and back) listen for any whining or notchy gear changes through all the gears and check all the UJ's while yer under it
