If you bought it new from Rover Ron give him a ring and get it sorted - I wouldn't mess with pushing wires etc in as it could cause damage if you were belting along and they came out or shorted to earth - there is a ECU at the other end looking for an opportunity to self destruct.

You need to clean the seat the injector sits on - the bit below the copper washer - I bought a tool for doing this off eBay about £20 I think - it works well and means the seal is good. Also make sure the sides of the tube the injector goes in are clean as this can also hold the injector up off...

Cheers for that - I have a what I am calling a wobble going through 2nd gear acceleration and a bit in 3rd. I replaced the front tie rod and the front diff mount which has improved things but not eliminated it - perhaps I should be looking at the same thing as you had. Prop off for a test I think.

Any update on this?

It would be quieter when the oil was cold and do thicker - it takes about 5 miles for a TD4 to get hot and then the oil is thin.
