    electric window

The bane of my life! NSF window motors last a max of 6 months on mine!! Its had 4 in total to date and currently not working again. As its rarely used I wouldnt even bother fixing it anymore except heading to France next month and hand for toll booths, so yet another motor in the garage waiting...

It's not even a vehicle... or mine for that matter...

Looking ace, how much would a new one have cost to buy??? I would still have concerns about that OSB treated or covered or not, once it starts to rot it will have all the strength of weetabix in hot milk.

    Fitting front springs

From memory you cant drop the axle enough to get the springs out, thats why you need the spring compressors. Also need to undo the anti rollbar link.

Really sorry but its a tyre question

Lost my D2 coming off a wet roundabout onto a dual carriageway, massive oversteer, tried to catch it but failed, ended up backwards onto the grass central reservation, amazingly I didnt hit anything or anyone and zero damage (apart from dented pride). I was running Goodyear Eagle road tyres on...

    Fitting front springs

Front springs are "handed", different spring for drivers side than passengers. You will need spring compressors. I ordered replacement turret rings with mine but didnt need them as the originals were perfect. Might as well replace front shocks when you have it stripped to that extent.

Ride Height Sensor - Do I need to calibrate it?

Just had the wheels off today checking it over before French trip next month. One sensor splitting up (the other side replaced a few years back). So one of those (and bolts) and a set of rear brake pads ordered. Guess the wheels will be off next weekend too

    Air suspension possible problem

Mine does it regularly. A pulsing / groaning noise after switching off for maybe 6 - 8 seconds? Hard to describe but Ive had mine 8 1/2 years and its done it most of that time seemingly with no ill effect. Its just an idiosyncrasy of the model. Dont worry about it!

    D2 td5 fuel filter stuck

Then youve no option but to remove it! They can be quite tight, ive used my chain filter wrench to remove some stubborn ones and in fact mangled them before they let go and loosen. To date (101000 miles) they have all come off without any trouble.

    Adjustable tow bar rattle

My dad had the same on his D1, used two pins which cured it.

    Td5 - where's me water going?

Got a new cap. Its not much but it's going somewhere, couple of hundred ml per week. I did consider kseal but you hear horror stories about it!

Terrafirma shocks - so far so good.

Looking good, I used Britpart's cellular dynamic gas shocks, the orange ones and have been pleased with them over a few years now. Are you running with out the rear brake disc guards? No problems at MOT?

    Td5 - where's me water going?

Had the fan and shroud off, dry as a bone, no staining around any of the pipe connections including thermostat. Will check around the water pump with a torch and mirror. It really is a small amount of loss at the minute but don't want it to get worse.

    Td5 - where's me water going?

What am I sniffing? No weeps evident anywhere, well not coolant, plenty of oil leaks!

300 tdi dpf filter scrap value

Took the cat out of my Disco 2 (And the wife's Tdi VW Golf) then the MOT regs changed and had to put them back, except I'd binned them so had to buy new ones!!! EGR removed as well, so far no issues.

    Td5 - where's me water going?

So my 133000 mile Td5 is starting to use a little coolant. Header tank needing topped up every fortnight or so. I'm happy to give it what ever it needs parts wise but can't find any obvious leak from radiator or any pipes. It's had a new cap and the coolant was all drained and refilled with...

    New to Defenders

To many, the best loved Landrover engine ever made, give it regular oil and filter changes and timing belts when required - or before when required and it will chug along for years. Personally I love my Td5 but do admire how many Tdis are still doing their thing!
