    TD5 Viscous Fan Removal

Ive got Laser viscous fan spanners, what do you mean the bolts are too short? The spanner picks up on just the heads of 2 of the bolts to lock it??

Replacing LR parking sensors with aftermarkets

This would be a worthwhile mod, my park sensors are useless, they just make random beeping noises when I reverse with no actual relevance or reference to anything that one is approaching! Which ones did you go for and did you get them wired up?

    Disco 2 Ignition switch

Its a common problem. The brass tumblers in the lock wear and become dislodged so that the key cant turn in the barrell. Removed mine as detailed above and disassembled it, theres a pin holding the barrel into the casting, I removed it by grinding away at the metal around it enough to knock it...

    Powder Coating D2 Axles

Leaking engine oil, power steering oil and waxoil seem to keep mine in reasonable nick.

    TD5 power steering pump

Different part numbers so I suspect not. They are not rh / lh drive specific.

Sell defender? Keep defender? Something in between?

I have a D2 and had it for 8 1/2 years, its been relatively reliable (never failed to get home under its own power) I tow a big twin axle caravan with it and heading to south west France at the end of the month. Its basic enough that I can do most work on it myself. No electrical issues at all...

    Bordeaux for sale

Classic! "You obviously drink a lot .... wine I mean, well not a lot, a fair amount, the right amount for a connoisseur". Going to be in Bordeaux at the end of the month and fully intend to drink enough to be a connoisseur :D:D:D

    Wave Etiquette

In the D2, most others I wave at give a bemused look at me, slightly modified ones with spot lights, snorkels or roof lights are obviously enthusiasts and return the wave. Got a big wave and smile from a young guy in Ballymena on Tuesday in a red 90 with LED lightbar.

    Defenders

Starter solenoid gives problems on Td5, there's a cheap repair kit, google it. Worst part is getting at the starter motor top nut to remove it, also possible issue with ignition switch?

    What caravan are you towing?

No mines the D2 in the first post.

    18inch Hurricane alloy wheels

The grabbers are H rated, good for 129 MPH, think the Td5 top speed was listed at 98 or 99 IIRC, I'll certainly never see 129 in mine

    18inch Hurricane alloy wheels

My 04 Landmark has standard fit 18" Hurricanes, have to say that I find the ride and handling fine, on 255/55/18 General Grabber AT. Id say that they do look good but tyre choice is more limited. You wouldnt need to advise your insurer as they were a standard (or factory optional) fit for D2s.

    Ignition key

Ive just noticed that Ive lost the "lock" button off one of my ignition keys - its seemingly fallen off or got broken, still got the spare working properly but what I need to know is can I get a replacement button or indeed key casing or is the whole thing gonna need to be replaced? Anyone...

    First Disco

Ha ha welcome to the club, Ive got a leaky power steering pipe and a side step held up by some strange jaggedy rusty metal as well. The leak adds to the various drips on my driveway from axles, gearbox, transfer box etc - my driveway will never rust :D On a positive note it also rust proofs the...

    High mileage: Should I buy??

Used to be a big deal when a car had "gone round the clock" at 100000 miles, I remember a VW magazine that devoted a page each month that featured readers wives (No cars!) that had done the remarkable mileage, I used to buy 2nd hand cars at 20 - 30K miles and drive them to 80 - 90K before...
