What do you think - Fair price?

Oil + filter and air filter, £50.00 Crankcase filter, just the filter £10, (filter and housing £35) So min £60 in parts Add labour not to bad a price if the crankcase filter comes with the housing.

54 freelander td4 won't start fuel pressure readings anyone??

Hello and welcome, would put my money on a injector leaking back. If memory serves when running the high pressure pump runs at 28000psi but when cranking it needs 6000psi if an injector is leaking will not pressurise rail and will not fire. The cam sensor normally only gives a issue when warm.

this is the relevant section of the manual Check 3 On petrol engine vehicles that qualify for a full catalyst emissions test, check the presence of the catalytic converter. Fail 3. A catalytic converter missing where one was fitted as standard. So as I understand it its only a petrol that...

Where to start owned 4 weeks cost me £1000+

You will find many of us running Ron's boxes for many years with out any problems. If its was found to have 2.5 lts too much oil in then that would be a major concern for me as the potential engine damage that it can cause, blowing seals ect.

    Cent. Locking query.

Seriously, the lock could be used on different rover models, so they make it a universal fitting, apart from that I have not a clue.

    newbie here

Hello and welcome to the site, no doubt you will now be getting a lot of stick about doors falling off ect, but they are not to bad a bus. The low biting point with a new clutch is not unusual and will after a few weeks get better. If you sent the VCU off to Ken at bell engineering, he will test...

    Clamp Bolt for Rear Silencer?

The original clamp are spot welded on, just get a normal exhaust clamp that will work fine, if you take the back section off the rubbers normally you can work the box up and down to get it off. If not then like the above post just cut it off

    TD4 not for starting!

most likely a leaking back injector, give it a spray of easy start and see if it fires, if it does take it for a spin and see if it runs fine, then switch off and see if it will start if not then do a search on leaking injectors

Ahhh, Limp mode on dual carriageway

We had this once which caused us a lot of head scratching, after trying a few things we got the code read and it was giving an over boost fault, we at this point thought vanes sticking in the turbo, however the arm seemed to move ok. We at this point ended up taking the cat off knocking the...

    Td4 common rail?

Very simply, the internal seal fails it allow fuel to return via the return pipes that plug into the top of the injectors. As you are cranking you need if memory serves 6000 psi, if the rail does not reach this pressure then it will not start. Once it fires the pressure increases to 28000 psi...

    propshaft balence

As props are balanced then it should not really matter, the reason they say mark them is to allow for any wear but that normally is not a issue. As for lining front and back props when the VCU is engaging it will change the relationship between the front and back sections anyway

    Ird symptoms?

What engine and do you get any issues when in neutral and revving the engine. As you have a loose gear stick then don't think it will be the IRD, more likely a gearbox or clutch issue.

    Failed IRD

Thank for reply, its a internal issue in either IRD which I am nearly sure it is, or gearbox, its just my knowledge of the auto box is nil, so just wondering if there are any known faults that the auto box that could cause the loud knocking.

    Failed IRD

Could do with some pointers, looked at a TD4 auto for another member that had a low knocking sound when moving, suspected a VCU bearing. So today went to drop props off to see to be told the noise was much louder. Dropped props off and went for a spin, there is now a loud knocking sound when...

Other options for getting TD4 started

When you put the starter back in after the HP pump change, have you got a good connection on the earth strap that goes onto the starter motor bolt ? as have seen this problem due to a poor connection. Just a thought.
