    Ignition wiring

I think the fender ignition is rated a lot higher because the Series ones kept melting - seriously. I'm looking at these issues on my SIII rewire too. Relays basically use a figure of 8 circuit. You do your switching in the cab using a small current, this is picked up by the relay which...

Sounds like fun - I've registered too

Ah, so a Salisbury diff is a 109 thing? Thanks for keeping me straight. Not sure about the evolved mods theory with my electrics. Looks like Freddie Kruger has had a go at it, while drunk. :D It's all coming out.

This bugger's military and I'm pretty chuffed about that. I thought the springs looked heavier than usual. I have the convoy light switchboard. Weird because it's got civi bumpers, and no tie-downs on the bonnet. How do I check to see whether I have a Salisbury diff? The previous owner was...

    Series 3 Rebuild

My SIII has those, not in bad nick either. Also has weird switch gear on the panel with words like "convoy" on it, so I guess it's military.

    Side Exit Exhaust - Again

Side exit has the added advantage of letting you monitor engine health in your wing mirror. I can recommend Custom Craft of Elgin for anyone in the North of Scotland.

    Another series(ous) stripdown

I confess I don't like those alloys on a Series, but that's a bloody good job!

Spanner, 10mm too small 11mm too big! what size do i need and where do i get it?

If the head is all messed up you could try an Irwin type bolt remover:

    Perkins Prima Conversions

I had a 4 litre phaser in a Dodge 50 once, the naturally aspirated one - loads of grunt, loved that engine. Seen one in a Rangie once, anyone ever crammed one into a Series?

Sounds sensible. How'd you get that finish on your balls? :D

Impressive. Did you take the diffs apart or leave well alone? I thought they were a total b*tch to get right.

I cross-posted a bit: http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/f6/series-3-re-wire-179145.html Looks like the Autosparks job comes recommended, but by the time I've finished it's more than £225 for the basic loom. Then I have to add in other stuff like spots, towbar electrics etc. I think I'll make my own.

I've been looking at the Wiring Diagram, It really isn't that complicated. But where are the relays?! Probably why I have so many melted wires in my loom. Could do with a bit of an update I think.

Very nice job. Is that where the fuses normally live on a 2A? Mine are under the ignition switch.

I think your theory is spot on. Here's a song, just for you: Ian Dury - There Ain't Half Been Some Clever Bastards - YouTube Bled it at the filter and pump, stuck on a battery booster, and she fired up second try. Used it as a wheelbarrow to get a lot of wood down from the top of my drive -...

Sounds like a bargain, but will need to get the car sorted before I make a decision whether to go for the moa powa option. That could take some time.

Yeah, I'm thinking airlock. The engine did start a few times momentarily but died quickly. The tank was possibly quite low (tank sender up the creek along with lots of other electrics). I stuck a 25 litre jerry can in but it didn't help. Probably needs a good bleed. I'm babysitting so I can't...

Thanks for the comments. Yes, it's a lovely slate blue/grey - well I like it anyway. Will run it over with clay and give it a polish once I've done the important stuff like the brakes, loom and engine service. No intention of messing with the patina. It's all the heavy metal underneath which...

Just bought a Series III 88"

Got the bugger home: She's a beaut. Needs a rewire. Needs the body off and the chassis cleaned up, but not too much work there I think. Wouldn't start to get it off the trailer, no idea why not. Fortunately my new friend Donnie helped me heave it into position under cover. Started fine...
