We're off to Botswana mid may for 3 weeks. Hiring a Toyota Landcruiser with the full overloading set up. We're picking it up in Kasane and then on our own for 8 days travelling through Chobe and Okavango/moremi. Would love to hear anyones experiences (good or bad), advice on routes to take, tips...

If you want cheap just make your own - I had a home made one similar to above but a considerably poorer effort for years. Recently paid out for a front runner one, which is expensive but looks great, works great and has some nice features.

We do this a fair bit - generally either speak to them on the phone and explain what it is or just book a camper van space. A ground tent also works to reserve you're spot

Just doing a 100amp alternator upgrade on my 200tdi defender. I’ve upgraded the cable from alternator to starter motor with an appropriate one. is there anything else that needs upgrading wiring wise?

Got a non functioning fuel gauge. Is that an MOT failure? MOT is on Monday so deciding weather I spend tomorrow fixing it or just go to the pub.

If the turbo is new I would start with the head. I'd expect fairly obvious blue smoke if it's burning that much oil. You sure its not a leak somewhere?

Dont bother with any inside the M25. Go where the majority of land rovers are (the country side)

Google the defender water ingress manual and that will give you ideas of where to look. Don't be tempted to seal down the floor panels with silicone or anything silly like that. Water will be coming from above and all you'll do is stop the water being able to get out
