vehicle has to manufactured, not registered, before Jan 1973 to qualift for historic vehicle status. Thats why you find some 'historic' vehicles on much later plates when the date of manufacture can be proven.

If it's '99MY onwards the altenator is the biggy - 150Amps, well at least it is on the V8 and they don't come cheap and very rarely do they come up from breakers either. Think they start around the £350 mark if you're lucky

To fit the newer wheels (D3 / L322) on a P38, you require spigot rings to align the hub correctly. This implies that the hub bore of the newer wheels is larger, therfore you cant go the other way and fit P38 rims on a L322 or D3

To get the Torque convertor off the back of the engine, you need to remove the starter motor then access 4 bolts through the starter motor apature which hold it on. removing the flywheel is then straight forward At least yu haven't got to worry about changing the clutch.

Apart from either dropping the gearbox, or removing the engine, the job is a piece of p*iss. I did mine not so long back, and having read the sections in the "Haynes book of wishful thinking" and asking on here, engine out was the easiest solution. I had engine out, seal swapped, new clutch...

As far as I was aware, in access mode its already on the bump stops, which is why when in hard fault mode on the EAS you are supposed to keep below 35mph and the ride is unbearable.

would recommend getting both ball joints renewed while it is apart. Tis supposed to be abugger of a job, an I got one to do on mine before long
