what makes the 200 soft then? when most people would agree they were probably the best engine lr made

i dont even own a tdi, my username might have given someone a small clue as to what i drive. I just dont like people telling newbies looking for good advice crap like the 200 engine is 'soft'

the 200 was probably the best engine IMO, a mates dad is trying to sell his 300tdi in silver with towbar and the works well within your budget

if it was me then between 3-4K max as its got problems and its been given a hard life i wouldnt offer anywhere near what he wants, but thats just me

if it was a road car i would have spent more time on it, but its going to get dented and scratched anyways

already done that after replacing the rad, its not that bad as although its a 'matt' paint it actually does have a shine to it so doesnt stain as much

overpriced IMO especially if its not a minter

ive never heard a skittish rear end to be a problem, it could be the A frame ball joint allowing the axle to rock slightly, or one of the trailing arm bushes have completely gone and the axle can move out of allignment

any would do really, genuine LR ones i would probably go for, they cant be much more than the others

it doesnt, only looses it. check for fluid loss on the bottom arm of the steering pump as it might need a re-con or a new one

have you checked all the track rod ends and lubricated the steering Uj's in the engine bay to see if it makes a difference, also check how easy the front wheels are to turn when they are jacked up before writing off the pump

pretty common really, ive seen someone fit a 25mm spacer under the one spring to level it up!

suppose thats landrovers for you, one person might lift their disco 2 inches and everything fails instantly, others run bigger lifts for ages without problems :doh: madness
