Who is selling it? If it is the garage doing the repairs you may get a warranty period from them, or they may sell you a third-party warranty such as Black Horse. Their value is questionable imho :)

Well said @derwendolly I would just add that the frustration is magnified many times when certain members of one's family live 3000 miles away and yet try to dictate how (in my case) my mum's care should be on a daily basis. :rolleyes:

Service brakes are the ones operated by the footbrake. The handbrake is the Parking brake in mot terminology. As @Western Slope Rover said: check pads, shoes, fluid level drums and discs MOT tester should be able to give you a steer as the nature of the problem :)

Only 2 companies actually run roadside vehicles for breakdowns, and Recovery trucks for onward travel - the AA and the RAC. All others use local contractors, so the service you get depends on where you are. Schemes like the banks, insurance companies, internet-only etc mostly bulk-buy AA or RAC...

If you are a member of a breakdown organisation, why not get it recovered home? If you are not a member then why not join, wait three days and then get it recovered home? :)

Check the connection of the GREEN fuel line at the top/back of the tank (access hatch under boot carpet. Well known for coming loose and ****ing diesel out when pump running. :(
