not really any damage, one uj had came apart,and 1 of the holding top bits on the rear had broken/snapped only damage under there is on the "finns" of the cross member one of them has took a bit of a hit and is bent/scrapped a bit but nothing to worry about, everything else is ok

ok got ya, im actualy driving past where it happened later....i think im going to pull in hard shoulder wheree it happened and have a look see if i can see the prop by centreal reservation or on the verge can i get ujs local tomorrow ? i presume not the thing loocal motorfactors or euro parts...

ok, ideally i need it for work tues morning-rest of the week a new set up inc the bolts,delivery, bung mate a few quid,taking £150-170 odd, and a wait for it to turn up i can get the used one tomorrow and all back on the road for a ton less is there any way to check the prop and uj condition...

can you do the vcu test like it is ? he tried the output flange as instructed a cple of posts above said it all seemed ok and everything seems to be ok could it just be the failed uj thats caused it all ? i think half the uj is still attached, said we need at least 4 bolts (for the rear) where...

If the uj has failed ? Everything seems to be spinning hes saying ,may of been uj fail ? If i get a new uj and prob could it be ok ?

the clutch was done about 3 months ago and front prob was removed then, and put back in..could that have anything to do with it ?> my mate here is unsure what the vcu is, he says is that just in autos ? or in manual too ? (mines manual) what tests can we do now ? we have front end jacked up...

update :eek: the front prop is completley missing :eek: nothing seems to be broken, were just about to jack it up now...

thanks whammers, reason im asking the qs- is that my mate wasnt very familiar with the VCU and tests, hes an mot tester and a good general mechanic, not a land rover expert, so i just want to be armed up with as much info as possible and il have this thread open on my phone as were looking at...

thanks data i appriciate all the info and help so....say if its just the rear diff has gone, everything else is ok....will the vcu front wheel jacked up test still be ok ? ,or if the front diff has gone what would happen when doing that test ? just want to be 100% clear in it all , my mate...

ok, so what are we looking for when doing that ? ie whats good and whats bad ? were looking tomorrow morning, he was supposed to do it today whilst i was at work but hes let me down, and im hoping i can go straight from there to get the needed parts

so.... if the diff has gone and wheel is free like above....how do you then check the vcu ? Or if rear diff is gone how would vcu be ?

is that the jack up and turn wheeel method ? i was reading about it earlier in the search,-but some said it wasfine but the test wouldnt move ? and also saw a post that said another way was to test it was to put in full lock turn,and drive ? - if i did that way quick in a min as its raining, how...
