should my fuel burning heater come on...

..every time I stop a fully warmed up car? I am wondering whether I have a stuck thermostat, because the temp gauge is always about 15 degrees below central except on heavy traffic, or on hot days, when it gets to near the exact middle. On cold trips (I did 70 miles last night for example) the...

1998 freelander 1.8 not starting. what can it be?

I think you are just throwing solutions at this without thinking. All a petrol engine needs is air, petrol and a spark at the right time Unless its mechanically completely busted, or has a potato rammed on te exhaust pipe, the valves will work to get the air in and out enough to work, so that...

Mild Off Roading nearly killed my Freeelander

I think the final answer is that if serious off roading of the crawl-wade-and-winch variety is your game, dont buy a freelander. Get a defender instead. Most of us use em on the road and the occasional field, green lane, snow covered road etc. Which they are superb at.

Ok looking at the circuit diagram, ist unlikely to be the CCU for the wipers. First of all, is it the fuse for the front wipers? If so, does it happen when te wipers are definitely all switched 'off'? I've had occasion to repair the wiper linkage in a Freelander, and getting at the whole...

    Heater

Ah. no aircomn EITHER. That's probably a bad fuse connection. There is very little between the battery and the aircon AND the fan. Its all on one wire and fuse to the rotary switch and aircon switch which is fed via that rotary . Id say you have a loose connection either in the fuse box area...

    Heater

Probably not. Looking at the circuit digram, if it doesn't work at one or two speeds, yes, If it doesn't work anywhere at all, its not the pack. No worse than any other car... I'd say they are worse in terms of general suspension and transmission faults because they have more suspension...

1998 freelander 1.8 not starting. what can it be?

if you leave 1 day and start will it run at fullish throttle? Had a peugot 205 that would stall once it got hot and never restart. the temp sensor in the water circuit was gone and it was 'full choke' all the time. You could run it at 3000 rpm plus but once below that it was dogmeat that...

    Prop shaft

Mechanics I spoke to said two things about VCU bearings: (a) There are three sorts. LR genuine, very expensive, and totally OK. Ebay cheapos which simply go in 100 miles ,and reputable cheapish ones (£30 or so IIRC) which actually last as well as the genuine. I cant remember which they are...

Two amigos brake lights don't work but I think switch OK?

Well given the schedule next week, I have ordered a new switch from amazon for £11.85, but wont fit it until I either get a spare moment, or it needs it! I guess it can stay in the car until the lights come on again! Because frankly it takes less than 5 minutes to swap out.
