    Thats the same as the veg oil then! thats ****e in common rails anorl, explains the prob with the freelander. The army and pikys have been using engine oil like this for decades:D

    I can filter it to 5micron which is about the same as the fuel filter fitted, i don't pretend to know much about this which is why i've posted this thread. I do know some peeps on other forums who have done thousands of miles on a oil derv mix, I just want to get other peeps view points:) and...

    The 90 is only for off rd, trailered by the freelander hence the thoughts of a td5:cool:

    Hi, this is a continuation of a previous thread that had gone a little off topic. Several peeps are using thier old engine oil (well filtered) in the fuel tank. I tried it in my 90 200TDI and it seemed fine, its off the rd at the moment so not done lots of miles on the old oil, i also tried it...

    I've given up using oil in the freelander, it loses so much power even o 20% mix . Does the td 5 have any loss of power? Thinking of the disco if it is likely to make any difference.

    In the middle of a house renovation if all goes well and it sells at the right price i will swap the TD4 for a disco TD5, might even fit it up for off road we we get a really good price for the house:D:D

    You use old/stale petrol tho, fresh petrol ok to use at 10%? Iwas thinking of some kind of heater on the car's fuel line, see if that would help the power?

    Ok guys? I want to mix some more oil to use, its bordering around 0 deg, is there anything i can thin it down with to ease its way through the filters? Would mixing it 50/50 with dersel work? I tried it 50/50 in the freelander but lost a huge amount of power, i thinned it out with diesel in...

    OI!!! we have a Freelander,,,,,, Ok its as well as the 90:D The 90 has a winch which does get used quite a lot, perhaps that reflects my driving ability:confused:

    tried it in the freelander on a weak mix and it seems fine, i'll put 30% oil in today see how that works

    Had ours 4 years, done 70k, its now very nearly 10 years old. Faults so far 3 window regulators rear door stay came unattached fault on wipers clutch slave cylinder was changed under warranty when we bought it, still on original clutch after 116k. Passed its MOT yesterday, 3 advisorys...
