It sounds as if the water content isn't much of a problem if i let it settle for a month then drain it off along with any sludge/crap in with it, that then will leave me a possible mix of anything else that goes into an engine, including petrol but i wouldn't expect to much of that, hydraulic...

I'm finding it difficult to get uncontaminated oil, all the garages i.ve spoken to pour everything into a 1000ltr container which they pay to have emptied, they've all said help yourself if you want some but of course its got water, gear oil and hydraulic oils in. If i let it settle for long...

How about diff area groups ?

Try setting up a sub section or two, might or might not work only time would tell. Most on here meet up for off roading or greenlaning and these "do's" can only have a limited no of motors so local meets may work. You wouldn't really want 150 off rd landrovers let loose on a pretty...

Trouble with transparent containers is when you fill em with old engine oil they is no longer (and never will again) transparent lol How about fitting a pipe with a tap on to the container screw on cap, fill it with the oily water, turn it upside down, let it settle then drain the water off...

As already said recovery points front and rear. I know they're the boring bits and you want the knobbly tyres and snorkel and 3" lift etc but they're no use if ya stuck and you can't be recovered, AND you will get stuck AND you will need recovering. Thats a promise
