    Quick/cheap body capping fix?

I have heard of propping up the roof from the rear door with a yard brush... but only after I had done mine. I did try drilling through the original holes on the body through to the cappings but I could get it square as the cappings twisted.... you are right and a couple of G clamps would have...

    Quick/cheap body capping fix?

I replaced my body cappings on my first 90 as a complete newby. If you look on my profile at minor restoration a few pics and tips. Worth getting new seals and some dum dum. Remove the rear door and unbolt the roof, it will need 2 people to lift it off. Take the sides off. Drill out the old...

    Defender VS Rolex watch

I would not take the 'excuse' of the Rolex dealer that occasionaly resting your hand on a gearstick causes a Rolex to implode..... he is selling you his theory and you bought it. I think its bollocks.....I would get in touch with Rolex HQ and see if they buy into his theory. Surely the finest...

    light guards

Any pics of the LED brake lamps? One of my minor worries is the poor brake lights on my 110... considering getting a 3rd hi lamp but interested in LED.... I am looking at buying LED spot lamps.... hardly any draw on your battery... sorry :hijacked: but only kind of :)

    light guards

They are plastic but a replacement lense is just as cheap and if you do hit a tree then I wouldn't worry about a rear lamp :)... They are okay and look nice but offer not a great deal of protection , bolt on bitz goes to all the LR shows and do nice horns rathet than the embarassing one on my...

    Brake light fuse blowing...300tdi

    Help - please!

If all else fails.... I have had 2 LRs fitted with these and bought off the same guy. I think it cost me under £40 to have it fitted by a MOBILE auto electrician (lot cheaper) One of the reasons was that the LR thieves know how get passed a factory fit alarm.... the other... they are a doddle to...

What to do about this rust?

From what I can see that rust is cosmetic? It looks solid enough to me.... give it a good wire brushing and behind/inside if you can. Then as mentioned use the rust killer, do the other side while you have the rivet gun out. If you have waxoyle then give a daubing before rivetting up. I use...

    random leak

That gap in the door at the bottom you can see from inside... I have the same so I think its to let water out! :) Dum Dum is a good flexible sealant for the tops of doors, joints etc... its a putty and can be worked into shape without mess its around £5 for a small tin that will last for years...

    low load suspension?

75kg is about the average weight of a person.... , your 110? should cope with no problems. Does your 110 have a self leveling unit fitted?

    What to do?

I would pay a valet company £100 sell what you have as it stands and put the money into a reasonable 300tdi that has a solid chassis and a decent engine. You will spend 100s of hours swappin bits and you will not make a penny for all the time you spend. Cut your losses, have a great summer...

    Tyre Size Question

I am not 100% convinced Waz.... If a vehicle is fitted with tyres less than the manufacturers recomendations in the handbook then it can invalidate your insurance. Illegal or bald tyres can do the same. Have a Google... better still, give your insurance company a call and ask them... is it a...

    random leak

When I did mine any cracks in the paint on the roof join (running across the roof) I cleaned out and then ran a bead of sealant across and with a wet cloth tidied it up like you would doing a bathroom sink. Cant see water getting in via the gutters themselves? You may get to test it this...

    Choppy ride in new defender?

The old G reg defender was like an old pair of tits, slight sag on one side, feel good in the dark and very comfy. You new bit of stuff is firm, perfectly formed and unlikely to have had a good pounding.....takes a bit of getting used to! :)

    Tyre Size Question

You really shouldn't skimp on what is the most important parts of your vehicle.... if that cocked up tyre fails at speed it could cost a lot more than £100. Unless your rims are designed to be used with tubes then your insurance will be invalid.
