What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just got back from 400+ miles holiday to Norfolk towing the new heavier van. Didn't miss a beat but got less than 20 mpg - can't have everything! (big van, big range rover, small fuel bills :) Edit: That's the last time I say how well my RR is going ......... See my other post "oil forced out...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

MOT today - sailed through and no advisories :) (Hate it though when they rev it flat out - rev counter never sees 5,000 rpm any other time).

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Cured the leak on my power steering - I hope! - and cleaned the EGR valve (what a mess). MOT Tuesday so fingers crossed.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It continues: ....... Suddenly got the 'ABS Fault' and 'Traction control error' and wondered if I had done something wrong yesterday when doing heater matrix 'O' rings and viscous fan. However this excellent forum pointed me to the 'stop light switch' and a quick trip to Sturgess and a new...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Fitted a new viscous fan (I also have Datatek's fan conversion but wanted to be doubly sure of no overheat when towing my new heavier caravan this summer) - so I now have a good backup. Also did matrix seals (they were only done 18 months ago by my garage, but I'm convinced it was not tight...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

After participating in the thread about 'remapping' and saying 'my car is fine' - I broke down and had to call RAC :( Would not restart (in b&q car park) but RAC man bypassed ignition to start it and I drove home. He said I would have same problem because no feed to starter. After a search I...

    Re mapping. Let's sort it.

The remap I have quotes max torque at 325nm so this is why I'm less worried. I have driven a friends 2.5 with a tune by a well known Coventry based company and it went like stink even with light throttle, now that I would expect to cause gearbox issues.

    Re mapping. Let's sort it.

I've owned my current P38 for over 5 years and covered over 50,000 miles in that time with it chipped. I tow a large caravan and have done so for years. Started using a 'plug in" box but had a remap by a company called Ecopower Remaps. The max torque for this remap is only 4 ft/lb greater than...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Today - (well yesterday now) I took a load of rubbish to the tip. Last week had 2 new tyres on and put 18" wheels back on (20" going on ebay). It's more comfortable on 18" and I haven't had an EAS fault since doing it (perhaps I shouldn't have said that!!!). :)

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Just had fault codes on eas reset at my local garage after renewing seals and piston liner on pump 3 days ago. Mind you will think about investing in my own reader - they charged me £48 for the privilege.

What did you do with your Range Rover today

Set about dismantling my original eas pump to see if I could replace seals. The reason bing that yesterday my RR decided to give me the dreaded EAS Fault Max speed 35mph - the first I've had in 50,000 miles (I knew I spoke too soon last week after reaching 135,000 "with no major problems"...

What mileage is your Range Rover P38 on? (1994 to 2002)

Now up to 135,000 - had a new rad and water pump in that time (+ drag link etc) and still towing my 24ft caravan - hope I've not spoken too soon :)

    Evolution Chip.. Experiences?

I think a lot depends on how well you look after your vehicle and also how you drive. My 2.5 is coming up to 134,000 miles, I've owned it for 5 years and put on 50,000 miles since buying it. I've used a power box from the start and about 18 months ago had it remapped. I regularly tow a large 6...

ATC on caravan & pin 4 rating on 12S electrics

New van has the 13 pin and was going to convert the rr eventually anyway. Need the S to do the conversion so may have to do it straight away. Thanks p.s. Your fan conversion running fine (thanks again) but not had chance to tow in hot weather this year. Not sure wether to refit new viscous...

ATC on caravan & pin 4 rating on 12S electrics

So would I connect the 4mm direct to pin 4 connection along with the standard wire, or remove standard wire and tape up leaving 4mm on its own?

ATC on caravan & pin 4 rating on 12S electrics

Does anyone know what the wire rating and fuse size is on the 12S electrics side - pin 4? I have located the spare socket on LH rear of vehicle. I've tried a search but can't find what I'm looking for. About to fit 12S electrics and I would like to be certain that the 20amp that ATC draws is...

Temp gauge @ 12:00 but aircon fans on a lot!

On the way out to the pub last night I did just that :) The new setting was just slightly higher than originally. Hoping that now I am not driving an albeit 'cream crackered' fan I might get a better fuel consumption - I might actually get 20.5 mpg rather than 20.3 mpg :) (too much town driving!!!)

Temp gauge @ 12:00 but aircon fans on a lot!

Hi Datatek, I did read your instructions and follow them to the letter :) It was just a querie because the fans seemed to come on easily and I really wondered how accurate both gauges were (car temp & thermostat) and wether I had actually let my vehicle warm up enough! Thanks for your help -...

Temp gauge @ 12:00 but aircon fans on a lot!

Ok thanks ... I did think that I may have possibly set it a bit low and that it may be trial and error (although I don't want 'error' to end up with a damaged engine :) ) I'll assume for the moment the thermostat reads correct and up it slightly. When I tow my tin tent of course it'll run...

Temp gauge @ 12:00 but aircon fans on a lot!

All Done! :) Datatek's mod for the air con fans done, and I must admit I'm a lot happier knowing that the fans are going to kick in at the right temp ..... But what is the correct temp? I've followed the instructions to allow engine to warm up and then switch fans on and back off slightly but...
