Disco 2 Long term RR owner - now Discovery 2!!

Just bought 2004 Discovery 2 with just 97,000 miles. Wanted something that I could rely on as a long term 2nd vehicle capable of towing my 1900kg tin tent - and so far so good :) In fact I'm well impressed!! Bought it Thursday, and Friday hitched up tin tent and off to Scarborough for Jazz...

P38A Scratching head - eas one high corner

So timer pulled and sure enough it dropped on the same corner. Went round with the soapy water and can't find a leak, the bags look almost as new. What I can't get my head around though is: if there is a leak then why does it still drop one corner, or more to the point why doesn't it level to...

P38A Scratching head - eas one high corner

I will check for leaks but the problem is that one corner is not lowering! Which to me is not saying leaks. The bags were all replaced with Arnott Gen 2 about 5 years ago.

P38A Scratching head - eas one high corner

I have made alterations to get the heights equal all round (inc new sensor) but it has still done the same. It doesn't matter if you leave it in standard height or access, it still drops over a period of time except the one corner.

P38A Scratching head - eas one high corner

Is that the same as altering the height values slightly (rewriting) or is there another way?

P38A Scratching head - eas one high corner

2000 dhse & should be correct sensor as from main stealer. Only since the sensor error have I had battery drain.

P38A Scratching head - eas one high corner

I've tried searching but can't find the answer - help!! Front near side corner remains high and the others gradually. Using my nanocom it originally indicated there was a problem with the height sensor on that corner. Bought a new sensor from main stealer and fitted it - still the same problem...

New Rangie 02 (new to me)

Mine idles at the same speed in N when the engine is warm so seems about right to me. The figure quoted in the workshop manual is 600 (normal) & 700 (A/C active).

Rangie Sport, whats the better towing rig?

Of course I do try to make sure the TC locks up as much as poss, and as for what I tow: a twin axle tin tent. Admittedly if I was 'towing' around town all day long then of course mpg would be low - but who does that? Towing is normally related to a holiday trip which includes dual carriageways...

Rangie Sport, whats the better towing rig?

So am I. Have been towing for years with RR's and always seem to get towing what I do around town. Too many people decry the V8 but if you drive sensitively then they're not that bad. The 'official' for the SC is better than mine so surely with modern tech it should be reasonable.

Rangie Sport, whats the better towing rig?

I tow with my 2004 4.4 petrol FF and get about 16 mpg (and that's not taken from the display). My tin tent is 1900 kg twin axel. Another guy on the same site has a 2004 3.0 diesel - he reckons he gets 19 mpg. I know which engine I prefer! If you're down in to single figures then you're driving...

went for a drive turned around n came home again

I'm in Bridlington as I type, parking on the front in 2 very large grass car parks is £2.90 ............ 'All Day' :) Nice walk along the promenade, easy for our sons disabled push chair, easy for the dogs! It gets dearer when you get right in to the centre of course. Going to be even cheaper...

Battery drained to 4.3 v in 24 hours

Update: Ruled out wet, because it's not been raining for days and all suggested spots dry. In fact no problem - until tonight that is 😁 Not been used again for 24 hours and went out tonight to get in and doors would not unlock - this started the alarm (box drivers side). Battery down...

Battery drained to 4.3 v in 24 hours

What could have drained my battery to 4.4 volts in only 24 hours. The alarm went off but no flashing lights, couldn't unlock with remote. Also can't get in to back yet to check for rain ingress (although ok last time I looked). ...... And what are the chances of both RR's being dead at the same...

Which one should I buy with my £6000 ?

V8 has the stronger gearbox - and sounds better :)

Which one should I buy with my £6000 ?

If you listened to all the 'nay sayers' you'd never do anything. I spent 7.5k on my L322 V8 - yes true the vanos may go, and the gearbox possibly, but it's great fun and a bit 'brutal' in the acceleration stakes compared to my P38 diesel (which now feels like driving through treacle in...
