    freelander vs discovery

I've been looking at trading my TD4 HSE 2004 Auto facelift Hippo in for a newer model. My problem is that it's got 148K miles on the clock which lowers it part-ex price. They dont consider the replaced engine, recon autobox, recon VCU and bearings or fully replaced sunroof! I want to upgrade...

Besides, the money seems to be in Defenders not Disco rust buckets ;)

    Discovery 1 wading depth

NEVER wade a Ford in flood conditions! A cubic metre of water weighs a tonne and that is without the weight of the water pushing downstream behind it. Also you dont know what muck and rubbish has been uprooted and brought down with it! Fuel tank and tyres are bouyancy aids while engine isnt...

Just looked myself, dealers seem to be asking around at least £13,000 for under 10 years.

    Freelander tyres

I have Scorpions on mine. Looking at the Yoko's there dont seem to be any SIPS which are the thin cuts that allow for good hold in snow. Are they winter rated with the required snowflake stamp on the side wall?

    My 2006 TD4 Auto HSE

My maths must be out, or how the refill of each tank is measured. I was going from nozzle click to nozzle click of full tank and converting litres to gallons to work out MPG. I was getting 32MPG. Since using my tablet/OBDII/Torque management diagnostic to monitor the use, that seems to think I...

black smoke from down buy the turbo and out the back

If PVC is blocked it stops the flow and creates back pressure in the system. This forces oil out of dipstick hole and can split hoses.

Depends on the tyres, however VCU, ABS and TC are a powerful combo against Diff lock and permanent 4WD ;)

    Which Land Rover Magazine???

I've had a years worth of LRM and find them fairly interesting but a bit repetitive now about rebuilding yet another Disco/Defender/Series project. That said, at least they have started to write up about fixing Freelanders too. Which brings me to a point (before you all start ranting), Yes...

What have you done to your Freelander today

My FBH hadn't been working for a while.... well since last Feb when the fuse blew so I left it out. But it wasn't F5.... which is FBH, oil cooler, engine management.... that had blown and that I removed. It was F4, engine management, that I had removed. Replaced the fuse and FBH kicked in as...

    in line thermostat mod td4

88/89 C and it sits almost exactly at the halfway line of the gauge. :D I got my local garage to change the proper one and its spot on. They seem to fail open and not allow the engine to heat up properly.... even with the FBH running!
