I would think you are right, looking at the bits there would be a valve not opening, I would check tappets and check all valves open and close okay

Do you know if it is really running or just engine turning, some times when being towed it is hard to tell?

Hi just to give the results, new starter motor arrived, my son put it on and now starting on starter motor, so all seems good, just out of interest does anyone know if same thing happens on other than td5 engines? thanks all for the help Ian

I would start off nice "look we are really not happy with the car we have no confidence in it any more we do not think it is safe any more will you take it back" they might say yes or give you a option you like, if they do not ask how you take it up with land rover direct, then if not joy take...

I think they should have given you the new engine numbers to inform DVLA of the change, seems to be many problems so would be best to walk or run away from this car

If the crank was not broken before you took injectors out, what is the chance it is broken now? never good but I would try and start it with a bit of easy start, if it runs then stops when easy start is gone then it is not the engine but the injectors or the injectors not being told to fire

that's what I thought problem was bur with van hooked up as well battery 13.2v when turning engine over

Would not worry about parking it, it will spend most of its life at the Land rover dealers:D But joking apart how reliable will it be is the big question, most on here think there is too much to go wrong, Time will tell, great video:),

Why drop the tank, there is a cover in the boot that allows you to get the pump out and also lets you get to the pipes?

Have you had a look where it is Bradford? My son thought about buying a LHD discovery 3 or 4 with a broken engine as a project, working on the idea if he bought a good used engine from s type and got all the bits sorted would end up with a lot of car for the money, but when you see them come up...
