    Disco 1 200 and 300 aux belts

my brain is working... ... can a 200tdi auxilery pulley and belt system be switched from the single v belt to the 300tdi multi v belt and pulleys? I ask as I am thinking of switching my alternator to a high output one and I'm thinking the resistance caused by the extra grunt of the alternator...

went to lro show last weekend was the kids and dog's first camping trip and I was impressed with their behaviour. had to lengthen the legs on my roof rack as it was for a defender truck cab so was too short to clear the disco roof. I'm now using my cav for comuting to try to save some money on...

GOT MY WINCH TODAY!!!! It came a day early so put my new tarp over my car port frame I acquired gave the rain the finger and got my winch fitted. I went with the winch-it zed. Took my time making the grill fit snug round the winch then realised I hadn't left enough room to put the cover over the...

http://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/25-x-Secure-Nut-Caps-Cover-Caps-M6-M8-M10-M12-/321802585055?nav=SEARCHSEARCH They are that sort of thing but metal and the cap knocks in flush so the only way to get them out is to chisel the cap back out

    Winch security

I'm planning on welding my bumper to my chassis rails so that will stop them taking the whole thing. I have heard of welding a piece of box section over the bolts aswell but was looking for the easier way of doing it with the bolt caps but just can't find them. I'm thinking I'm just not using...

    Winch security

I have heard of caps that encase the head of the bolt that holds the winch to the bumper. They are steel versions of the yellow or black number plate screw caps. But I can't find them anywhere. Does anyone know what I mean and know the proper name for them and/or have a link to somewhere I can...

    winch advice

I have done a fair bit of research about use of winches for off road and recovery. And yes I'll agree they can be deadly when they go wrong. That's partly the reason I'm after the best I can afford instead of the first I see. Hence the 13000lb instead of labouring a 8000lb with a snatch block...

    winch advice

See mine will mainly be for fun at yarwell where I have needed to be pulled through the odd rut so I can't see me being stuck to the point of getting close to the max load of a cheaper winch and it'll be covered for the majority of its life. It's more so I can self recover instead of always...

    winch advice

All I'm concerned about with a higher speed is that the gearing is higher so surely the motor will be stressed when pulling the weight unlike if its got a lower speed and so more torque. Basically the difference between high and low range with our landys

    winch advice

Thanks for the advice guys. Grezzer, this is why I'm looking at 13000lb winches as my truck weighs 2.5 ton with noone in it. So 5 people weighing 100kg each will see it hit 3 ton so a winch that can pull nearly 6 ton is the minimum I want to go for. At least then its capable for at least up to 5...

    winch advice

I have a D1 200tdi and I'm looking for a budget winch with 13000lb pull. I have found the winch-it winches on ebay but there are 3 or 4 at the same price and I'm getting confused as to which would b best suited for me. they have one that they claim is best for off-roaders, the only thing I can...
