There is no need to drain the system when removing the distributor unless the housing is very low :confused:

Did it make much difference to the handling? I'm thinking about going the hd spring route myself.

Did you mark the centre spindle of the distributor and realign that? Are the points set? Fairly simple questions I know but always rule out the easy things first :) Plenty of fuel in the tank?

Why did you change the distributor in the first place? Are you just putting the new one in anyhow and hoping for the best? Have you got the plug leads on in the right order? If you can answer these I can come up with a few more and maybe we can get you going :)

If you're happy with what you paid for it don't worry about it. There maybe cheaper ones about but finding them is usually a problem when you've got the money. All Land Rovers are worth whatever someone will pay for them.

There are a few off road sites about. Wilton out near Guisborough is a fairly new one, there used to be one at Stanley, pea farm, but I don't know if it's still open.

No it's the rear ones, the pads can move up and down and are starting to catch on the disc itself.

When ordering parts and it says to 38S44171D or from 38S44171D are these numbers the engine number, VIN number or what? I am buying brake calipers if that makes any difference. Ta :)

I have a 300 Tdi and the pads are loose in the calipers. I have replaced the pads and the retaining kit but they are still loose so it looks like new calipers are required. The question is where is the best place to get them from? Paddocks £41.50 + vat is the best price I have found so far...

I've looked at both sides of the tyres and the chevrons point in opposite directions. If they were on either side of the motor they could point in direction of travel. I think I'll have a change round so they are all pointing the way the wheel turns :) Thanks
