    air springs (sls)

It's the same box that houses the compressor. Black box, 'bout the size of a shoe box? I would imagine that's it's still on the nearside/RHD Passenger side, even though yours is a LHD

    Straightening the Steering Wheel

Hidden Hints 'n' Tips - TD5 Discovery II

Here's another - if you've got your front wipers on normal (constant), and your back wiper on too, the intermittent speed controller on the stalk adjusts the delay on the back wiper. If your front's are on intermittent too, the speed control adjusts both, and synchronises both front and back...

    air springs (sls)

Sorry! That's right - that was my point, but I didn't explain it very well.. :o You need to check that the compressor isn't topping up regularly. Forgot to add, the other thing that made me realise that it was probably the valves having a one-off leak on mine is that both sides dropped...

    '03 Discovery Auto Box problem.

These are supposed to be good and not too expensive. Take a look. James

    Straightening the Steering Wheel

Have to admit, although it makes sense above, this is what I thought.. Aren't they called track rods?? The only thing I'm worried about with this is messing up the toe of the wheels/tyres? Should I be adjusting both sides? Sorry to be a complete dumb **** James

    air springs (sls)

It could be the spring-seated vavles that hold the air in the bags - located between the compressor and the bags. Mine went down over a period of 1 week once (car didn't move all week) but haven't done it since - thought bags at fisrt but then after a bit of deduction put it down to the vavles...

    Straightening the Steering Wheel

Cheers - is this yet another method? Sorry for the confusion

    Straightening the Steering Wheel

Woah - this is a revelation! Seriously is this how you straighten a steering wheel? Sounds easy! I never knew about that, is that all I need to know? The steering wheel sits about 20 degrees out to the right ('droops' clockwise) - Is there sufficient adjustment to handle that kind of...

    Straightening the Steering Wheel

I need to straighten my steering wheel because it's really getting annoying now and I've got some big journeys coming up. Two thinks I wanted to check with you experts: Do you really really need to disconnect the battery before taking the airbag off? Is it really that likely to go pop? I...

Land Rover Discovery II Tool Kit

That's actually what's started this off - got a crappy cheap socket set but I fancied the idea of having a bespoke kit in the smallest possible case to carry around instead of a big grey plastic case with daft tools in it that I would never use on the car! :) Not sure if I'd carry and angle...

Land Rover Discovery II Tool Kit

Morning. Rather than buy a full socket/tool set with things I don't need, I'm going to build up my own kit in a tool bag with just the individual things I need for oil/filter servicing, roadside repairs and simple fixes on my Discovery TD5. What, in your experience, would you get...

    Roof Rack Fitting

I would agree, the Disco II is bigger than a Disco I but probably not enough to affect you swapping roofracks though. I would say that if the length of your roofrack was a lot on your Disco II, it will look even bigger on your Disco 1 or may overhang by a few inches. I don't think the height...

Clippy thingy between wiper blade and wiper arm (TD5)

Evening all. Just spent ages trying to find this.. does anyone have a part number for the clippy thing that holds the wiper blade onto the wiper arm? A can't find one anywhere and I don't know how long the duct tape will hold in this weather. The clip thing shattered spectacularly on the way...

    Faded Wheel Arches

Would agree, a gel-based trim shine that you rub on with a sponge would be good as you can layer it up. For keeping on top of it once you've got a good level surface back, it's worth trying Tesco's own bumper and trim shine spray (aerosol) ... It's about a third of the price of the 'proper'...

    Check Auto Box Oil (TD5)

Thanks! Sounds a bit scary though! Will have a think - removing the whole sump sounds a bit of a step from simply dropping the oil out of a drain plug ;) Thanks for your help!

    Check Auto Box Oil (TD5)

Suppose that's quite a fair comment! Just 3 questions: Is this do-able without raising the vehicle? Do I need to change any filters at the same time? Will I need to replace the o-ring seal on the drain plug (one-use-only), like on the engine oil?

    Check Auto Box Oil (TD5)

Cool, thanks - I hope I'm able to check the quality of the oil from there! A job for the weekend. :) Thanks again!
