    Front Diff! does not make any sense when you usually have a whine and you put pressure on the clutch pedal it is more times' than not the clutch thrust bearing which I hope they changed when they changed your clutch how far do you need to press the pedal before the whine stops.

    Here Here well said mate I have re-built almost every engine from nearly every bloody car make over the years. My advice to anybody is its a LAND ROVER chill out its been designed to be fixed in the field sometimes all it takes is a bloody big hammer :drum::drum::drum::drum::amen::amen:

    Cheers for the info, not a bad Idea starting a thread about the old L series. Will be keeping it for a few years so will consider putting up repairs on here and so forth.

    Borg and Beck are a respected brand name, however someone recently said that they have been purchased by LUK. I have put a lot of these in many different cars. But for something like a freelander Borg and Beck would be my first choice.

    Have you got a vice, some angle iron nuts and bolt. Make an 'A' type frame put bottle jack underneath and take your time that's what I use not as fast as the stuff in my local garage but does the job. When I figure out how to post a drawing on her i'll put it up for you.

    Belts AC & PS Tips and tricks to release Belt Tensioner

    Not a trick but a 15mm goose neck spanner fits the tensioner on the aux beltand gives enough slack to remove it easy.
