late 2003/2004 as you mentioned was the facelift year. Lots of upgrades on the 1.8. New dash, better lights, revised suspension options etc. Not 100% sure of all the TD4 engine upgrades, but am sure someone else can fill you in. The facelift can IMHO be said to be a better vehicle, but not...

Well, there are some good breakers on flea bay (honestly). Thats what i did on one occasion. Bearing in mind its not going to go pop just yet. Could last for months or years. You WILL know when its totally stuffed, or even getting near to it. It's Up to you.

Nice one :) You can tell the fake ones. They have a Yak printed on the top of the gasket. It says "This Yak upwards" in Mongolian. Dead give away if you ask me.

PS, starter pause: Check/tighten the starter motor connections. Have had this myself on the odd occasion. Sorry if i missed anything. Its been a long day.

Hi Pete, Thats a fair old list. These are your questions answered from my opinion at least. Get your stuff off E-bay. There are some outstanding bargains to be had. Use your common, and as the years go by you will suss out who is a good seller and who isn't. Checking feedback is a good start...

Not really, don't think i mentioned changing the leads an stuff. Always a good idea. You know how they "Cook" on this motor.

Take the plugs out and give em a clean off. Plugs seem to suffer when the motor fails to start on this engine. Check the pump seal on the tank to see it is seated properly. Maybe, unfortunately, more crap in the system. Bugga x2! :mad:

Rightly or wrongly, i, personally have never changed the O ring seals on the 1.8 and have had no problems. I suppose you should really. The injectors have been on an off like a "lady of the night's" knickers. :)

Glad the baby is on the mend mate. Cars are just cars. Have another look at the earths by the headlight. Take the battery off and really go to town cleaning/checking etc. Take the air box off and see if anythings amiss as you can see more. Totally flummoxed this side otherwise.

Yea, this is it isn't it!?, you get into something sensible like your pug and think...why do i bother with all this other stuff!?. Keeps me quiet in my case :D
