Freelander 1 LRO Freelander 1 buying guide

I had a three door petrol with a removable hard top. It was a fun thing, and drew a lot of looks with the top removed driving along. Am sure most people don't realise you can get a freelander with an open back. Tips: It is vitally important to wind the ventilation blower up to at least warp 3...

Swimming Pool in Tool Box Recess

Check the condition of your rear door tailgate membrane (behind the panel). Damage there from previous work on the window etc will cause leaks. Fix with a good gaffa tape and plastic sheeting. Also check the rear door/tailgate rubber seal for damage/wear.

    Easter egg

Ahh, i see. Errm, topped up the screen wash yesterday, and gave it a wash like Mandy. It was all covered in bird poo. Bloody thing gets spoilt rotten most of the year anyway. I suppose i am not being very easter ish.

Fault caused by jump starting another car?

Ask your Ford Focus friend if his car has a "Smart Alternator". If it does the focus was busy putting anything up to 18v Dc into your electrical system. Possible damage to ECU, and even your battery can occur in quite a short time.

    Possibly selling, advice please

I would pitch it at £995 ono. Its a decent colour with nice spec, low miles, and has at least some history with what you've done. (Especially recently) Stick it in the Auto Trader, and mention you are a Land Rover forum member. No unaccompanied test drives, and don't take any dicking around.

    engine knocking sound

Eee by gum!, its glum up north :) I would give it a service (as you are arranging) using a good oil and see how your noise is then. As a rule, the bottom end is pretty tough on the K-series, so doubt its that, especially if someone has even remotely changed the oil now and then. At 76K its...

    injector ultrasonic baths

Not used one mate, but have had injectors pro cleaned this way. Brilliant results!. They are supposed to be the dogs for cleaning injectors. Looks like you need to power the injectors whilst cleaning. I think you should get a bath and set yourself up an injector cleaning business. Make...

Must give this a go in the missus Freelander.

(Hands on Hips)...give him a smacked bottom Dave!...AND he didn't eat his pudding LMAO!!. Best to fit part no Luft100855TF before hand. This optional Lufthansa flight conversion kit is known to provide a rapid but predictable descent. :rolly:

    K Series Throttle too sensitive

Just thought!...you have a MAP sensor on your manifold!. Check that out (Sorry, forgot yours is a later one).

    K Series Throttle too sensitive

Seem to be. Sometimes a little sneaky R&D can work wonders. Also thinking about it, might be worth checking the wiring on the tps, may be damaged..also the inlet temp sensor on the manifold (usually green, not sure on yours). Also a reset of the TPS position (Unlikely, but possible?)...

    K Series Throttle too sensitive

Cant tell you on that one. I was lucky enough to pick up an entire 0 milage throttle body and inlet manifold off a Rover 400. I changed my old SU (my bad on the Webber) plastic body and used the new metal one. The TPS was already on it...and all injectors and loom on the manifold!. Total damage...

    K Series Throttle too sensitive

Its 48mm, i would stick to that...did think about a 52 here. But don't think its worth it.

    K Series Throttle too sensitive

Yea, i thought so at that age. Saying that, you never did know with Rover. The old SU plastic ones were buggers for erratic throttling. Metal much better.

    K Series Throttle too sensitive

I don't think the TPS would throw up an error. The tps tells the ecu the throttle position and thus fuelling. Dead giveaway of a bad TPS is when you are on a very slight incline going up the gears...and the revs don't drop quickly enough. The TPS's are not overly cheap. Am sure this is...

    K Series Throttle too sensitive

I would check/clean replace the TPS (throttle position sensor) located on the throttle body. Also the idle control valve. Give that a clean out or replace. Also check the vac pipes. Also check there is a little slack in the throttle cable. In my experience, erratic engine idle/throttling is not...
